Manually Rotatable Crank Or Wheel Patents (Class 242/395)
  • Patent number: 6182917
Abstract: An electric stretching/collecting device for a parasol including a touch switch, a remote control circuit, a motor driving mechanism, a manually operated clutch mechanism and a ratchet damper mechanism. A motor serves to drive the motor driving mechanism to wind or unwind a cord for stretching/collecting the parasol. When the crank is switched, a clutching effect is provided to change the electrically driving operation into a manually driving operation. Therefore, the stretching/collecting device of the parasol is able to achieve double uses of manual and electric operation for conveniently stretching or collecting the parasol face.

  • Patent number: 6079182
Abstract: The present invention provides a floor board compressing apparatus and method of use for compressing and tightening a plurality of abutting floor boards. The apparatus has a reel rotationally engaged in a reel housing. An inextensible and flexible tape coiled on and attached to the reel extends to a first hook which attaches to the first end of the boards to be compressed. A second hook is pivotally attached to the reel housing and attaches to the opposing end of the floor boards. A handle which is pivotally engaged to the reel is used to turn the reel within the reel housing so as to draw the first hook toward the second hook. The reel housing preferably includes a plurality of holes and the handle provides a locking peg. After winding in all of the flexible tape by turning the handle, the handle is then rocked on its pivot for engaging and disengaging the locking peg with any one of the locking holes. After the tape has been tightened and locked into place, the reel housing is pushed laterally.

  • Patent number: 5588613
Abstract: A manually powered fish tape reel attachment apparatus which is used in combination with a conventional fish tape reel for pulling electrically insulted wires through a conduit. The apparatus comprises a frame member with a fixed handle at one end and a tubular member at the other end. An internal hub member is mounted in the middle of the frame member such that the fish tape reel will be fitted thereon and will be rotated by the internal hub member. The fish tape itself is fed through the tubular member. The frame member has a ratchet mechanism which is a ratchet type device attached to a gear mechanism which is attached to the internal hub around which the fish tape reel fits. The ratchet mechanism can be rotated and due to the ratcheting effect of the ratchet, can create excess pressure and force on the rotational motion. In an alternative embodiment, the hub member is mounted onto a crank axle which in turn is mounted on bearings attached to the frame member.

  • Patent number: 5548940
Abstract: A method for rolling a rigid vinyl siding elongated sheet of selective dimensions into a convenient transportable compact coil for easier handling and shipping, and products derived from practicing the method. The method includes rolling the sheet onto a spool having a particular axle shape and diameter which varies with the thickness and design of the siding. The shape of the coil may be determined by the shape of the spool axle. For example. the use of a tapered-shaped axle diameter for the spool may produce a substantially conical-shaped coil. Thus, a predetermined length of siding can be rolled with an appropriate spool size to produce a coil product of a desired shape. A method step relates that the granular side of the siding initially contact the surface of the spool and that the smooth side of the siding face outwardly. Fasteners hold the compact coil in a secured manner before the coil is boxed for shipment.
