  • Patent number: 5727745
Abstract: A storage system for organizing, handling and storing small electrical appliances with powercords and adapters, in an orderly and efficient manner for ease of access, and especially for handling and storing loose powercords. The system comprises a powercord storage tool, and an appliance storage container. The powercord storage tool provides efficient means for gripping, winding and retaining a powercord. It also provides means for attaching the tool, with powercord on it, to an electrical appliance, and alternately for attaching the tool, with powercord on it, to the outside of the appliance storage container. The appliance storage container provides storage of the appliance inside, and a rack on the outside for attaching and holding the tool, with powercord wound thereon, onto the outside of the container. The tool also provides manual guiding and direct sensory feedback to the operator of the tension on the powercord while it is being wound onto the powercord storage tool.

  • Patent number: 5681131
Abstract: A system for feeding a cable into a pipeline or other conduit comprises a rotating turret and a local cable feeding mechanism for drawing the cable off of the turret reel and loading it thereon. A remote cable feeding mechanism for inserting the cable into or withdrawing it from the pipeline is attached to a launch saddle secured to the pipeline, and its feeding rate is synchronized with that of the local cable feeding mechanism. Where the cable acts as an umbilical cable carrying fluids and electrical power to a tool inside the pipeline, the fluid and power supplies may be located on the floor of the reel, connected to an operator station by an electrical cable which winds onto and off of the turret shaft and is kept taut by a spring-biased tensioning arm. A flexible fibreglass rod extends through the cable to prevent coiling or bunching up within the pipeline while permitting the cable to traverse bends and corners.

  • Patent number: 5566900
Abstract: A cable connection/dispensing system for a multi-rotation assembly includes a hollow cylindrical housing and an elongated central hub centered within the housing. The hub has a cardioid cross-sectional shape with two lobes and an acute cusp therebetween. At least one of the housing and the hub is rotatable. A first cable connector is located on the hollow housing and faces its interior, and a second cable connector is located at the acute cusp of the central hub. A length of an interconnect medium lies between the hollow housing and the central hub. The interconnect medium includes an interconnect cable attached at a first end to the first cable connector and at a second end to the second cable connector, and an interconnect medium substrate to which the interconnect cable is attached. Rotation of the hub with respect to the housing results in a smooth payout and takeup of the cable medium for a number of turns corresponding to about twice the length of the interconnect medium.

  • Patent number: 5475944
Abstract: A trotline fishing device. The device for storing fish hooks on both sides of a trotline reel and discharging the hooks from both sides of a trotline reel in any directions, rapidly, with safety, and having control through out the fishing cycle. A preferred embodiment including hook or article holders (53A, 53B) releasably mounted on either side of the reel and fitting snug over a rod, the rod bound to the reel by elastic lacing. The rod held in hinge fashion by the elastic lacing so as to lean and direct the discharge of hooks from the holders when tension is put on the stage line. The holders releasing the hooks to discharge them clear of the reel when the main line is cast or discharged in any direction. The holders having the ability to lean favorably to direct a clear, clean discharge of the hooks rather than lean directly toward the pull of the stage line. Further embodiments include stage line control guides and a main line fluke anchor.

  • Patent number: 5419508
Abstract: A storage reel for evenly winding and unwinding heavy electrical feeder cable is mounted on the side of a mining vehicle. The storage reel is mounted so as to be stationary on the vehicle. The orbital carriage revolves around the reel evenly winding or unwinding the cable. The reel is shaped in an elongated oblong to maximize the cable storage for use on restricted low profile mining equipment. The device is suited for use on vehicles in mining operations and does not require the use of split rings, rotating collector rings, brushes, or the like for electrical connection, but permits power to pass through the cable from the power source to the vehicle without intervening electrical connectors.

  • Patent number: 5358190
Abstract: A device (10) for stowing away a thick cable (14, 16) composed of several leads, in particular the supply cable of a central energy supply installation for the supply system on board of aircrafts, for example. The device has a rotary winding drum, around which several turns of the cable can be wound, connected in turn by a compensating cable (40) preferably to a fixed connection. The leads of the compensating cable, that lie free at least in sections, extend in the axial direction of the winding drum, so that the compensating cable is more strongly twisted when the connecting cable unwinds from the winding drum and less strongly twisted when the connecting cable is wound on the winding drum. The winding drum (24) itself has a hollow cylindrical bearing body (22) for winding up a single layer of cable (14, 16), within which extends the compensating cable (46). Preferably, the compensating cable (46) or some of its leads are held or fixed in an approximately central position within the bearing body (22).

  • Patent number: 5340046
Abstract: An energy converter comprises a sleeve with a sleeve channel. A longitudinal groove is configured in the wall of the sleeve channel. A shank of a bolt is introduced into the sleeve channel. An L-shaped deformation member having an arresting leg is introduced into a lateral bore of the bolt shank, wherein then the sleeve leg comes to rest in the longitudinal groove of the sleeve and at the outer surface of the bolt shank. The sleeve and the bolt are thus secured against rotation. The bolt has a hexagonal bolt head, which can be positionally fixed in a matchingly configured aperture in the cheek of the belt fitting. If a predetermined force F acts upon the belt band, the sleeve and the bolt turn relative to one another and the deformation member pulls out of the longitudinal groove while rolling around the bolt shank.
