  • Patent number: 8500056
Abstract: A self-compensating tension control device for regulating the payout of filamentary material from a spool includes a fixed support and a spindle assembly rotatably carrying the spool. A tension force applied to the filamentary material, in opposition to a biasing force, moves the spindle assembly linearly in relation to the fixed support. An eddy current braking system includes a conductive member rotatable with the spindle assembly and a magnetic member carried by the fixed support. The spindle assembly and the conductive member move linearly toward a side-by-side relationship with the magnetic member when the tension force applied to the filamentary material is reduced and unable to overcome the biasing force. Linear movement of the spindle assembly and the associated conductive member can be obtained by either a straight line mechanism or a linear ball bushing mechanism. A supplemental brake may also be used.

Abstract: A filament winding apparatus detects that a fiber bundle is likely to break and prevents generation of defective products. The filament winding apparatus applies a prescribed winding tension to the fiber bundle unwound from a fiber bundle feeding package and winds the tension-applied fiber bundle around a mandrel. A tension applying portion applies the winding tension to the fiber bundle at a position that is immediately before a side of the mandrel between the fiber bundle package and the mandrel. A tension sensor detects the tension of the fiber bundle between the fiber bundle feeding package and the tension applying portion. A determination means determines a tension abnormality of the fiber bundle by comparing pre-set reference information with the tension measured value measured by the tension sensor.

Abstract: Device for modulated braking of a weft yarn for textile machines, comprising a set of three yarn guiding eyes, which form a straight path for the yarn, and an oscillating lever, which is connected to a U-shaped braking, element which straddles a central eye of said eyes and engages the yarn in free portions that lie between said central eye and the end eyes of said eyes in order to divert its straight path for braking, wherein the oscillating lever is controlled by an electromagnetic actuation means which comprises at least one permanent magnet which is constituted by a cylindrical body having a N-S polar axis arranged radially; the body is associated with a stem which is articulated to the oscillating lever and can move in a linear fashion inside a cylindrical shroud with high magnetic permeance, on which at least one coil is wound, an excitation current flowing through the coil; is the axis of the cylindrical shroud, which coincides with the axis of the movable stem, being perpendicular to the polar axis of
