  • Patent number: 8424792
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for winding wire coils in cores of dynamo electric machine using needles that are relatively movable with respect to the cores. Wire guides are provided that are also relatively movable with respect to the needle and the core so that the wire leaving the needle can be delivered to predetermined positions around the poles of the core to wind the wire coils. The wire guides are supported adjacent to the ends of the core by support means which have portions occupying positions of the needle trajectory during winding. The portion of the support means are movable as a function of the position occupied by the needle around the poles so that the needle can move without being obstructed. The arrangement enhances accuracy of guiding and positioning of the wire to form the wire coils and is suitable for compactly sized cores.

  • Patent number: 8028396
Abstract: A method and mechanism for automatic or manual winding of a stator. A fixed arbor serves to support the stator during the winding process, as well as a wire feed point and wire guide. A mechanism moves the stator in a back and forth motion along the major axis of the arbor. Proper axial position of the wire is maintained by the outer surface of the arbor and the axial slot itself. The arbor has a channel that serves to guide the wire, allowing it exit in each of the two possible longitudinal directions along the major axis of the arbor.

  • Patent number: 7200917
Abstract: A number of embodiments of rotating electrical machines and methods for winding them that provides a high space utilization and very effective winding with less likelihood of damage to the insulation of the wire of the winding during the winding process. The arrangement basically does not require the winding needle to be moved back and forth in the slot between the poles but rather employs insulating inserts that are positioned on the axial faces of the poles outside of the gaps for guiding the wire from one end to the other so as to provide the high space utilization. In one embodiment the insulating insert effectively changes the circumferential length of the coil winding that decreases in an axial direction along their length.

  • Patent number: 7017850
Abstract: The present invention concerns solutions for disposing the wire leads of a wire coil along trajectories that have predetermined positional references relative to the dynamo-electric machine component. The present invention proposes to provide a wire lead manipulator that operates to dispose the wire lead by entering within extremely narrow gaps on a dynamo-electric machine component at high speed and with a lower risk of the wire lead manipulator colliding with the accessory parts of the component. Using the solutions of this invention, these achievements are possible for dynamo-electric machine components with very small spaces between accessory components that do not allow the passage of conventional wire lead manipulator apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6745973
Abstract: An apparatus for forming wire coils on a stator including a winding tool movable in reciprocating and rotating movement and including wire apertures for feeding wire into slots of a stator. A drifting tool is provided adjacent an end of the winding tool and includes drifting blades extending radially outwardly for positioning within the slots of the stator. The drifting tool is movable with the winding tool during the winding operation such that the drifting tool follows the winding tool in its reciprocating movement to provide for displacement of wire in the slots and improve the slot fill during the winding operation. Wire retaining structures are provided above and below the stator to intermittently engage and retain wire located at the ends of the stator. A wire feed mechanism is also provided including a wire feed pulley and a belt cooperating with the pulley to push wire toward the winding tool.
