Guide Traverse Speed Patents (Class 242/477.6)
  • Patent number: 10407800
Abstract: Techniques produce a multifilament thread from a polyamide melt. In this case, freshly extruded filaments are cooled and combined to form a thread. In order, in addition to low boil-off shrinkage, to achieve high strength, the thread is taken off at a take-off rate in the range from 3600 m/min to 4600 m/min, preferably from 4000 m/min to 4400 m/min, by a first godet group having unheated guide casings. Subsequently, the thread is fully drawn between the first godet group and a second godet group having heated guide casings. After drawing, the thread is heated to a thread temperature in the range from 140° C. to 200° C. under tension at the guide casings of the second godet group and relaxed. After relaxing, the thread runs in a contact-free manner through at least one free cooling section between the second godet group and a third godet group having unheated guide casings.

  • Patent number: 9970954
Abstract: A computer-executable ratiometric analysis method determines integer components of a rational number ratio or a close approximation of an irrational number ratio. In one embodiment the method uses a ratio of rotational speeds of two rotating assets in a machine or process, generates a new rational number based on the ratio of speeds, and calculates the integer components of the new rational number. The result is the integer ratio relationship between the initial two rational numbers. The method may be used in machinery analysis applications to determine whether a low-order integer ratio relationship exists between two machinery rotating components. Low-order integer ratio relationships in machinery are generally harmful in related machinery rotating components, and detection of such relationships is an important tool in preventing damage to machinery components.

  • Patent number: 8910896
Abstract: A method of winding an elastomeric yarn, such as spandex, onto a spool includes the steps of providing a spool; providing an elastomeric yarn; rotating the spool at a speed to define a spool rotation speed; moving the yarn traversely with respect to the spool in an alternating to and fro manner to define a traverse frequency; winding the yarn onto the spool; controlling the ratio of the spool rotation speed to the traverse frequency to define a wind ratio during the winding of the yarn onto the spool; and decreasing the traverse speed as the yarn is wound onto the spool in an inverse proportion to an amount of yarn that has been wound. The winding of the yarn onto the spool forms a yarn cake on the spool. The traverse speed may be decreased in inverse proportion to a diameter of the yarn cake. The method may further include the step of shifting the yarn by a pitch for each rotation of the spool.

Abstract: A process is provided for preventing ribbon windings when cross-wound bobbins are wound in random winding on a textile machine. The thread from a thread guide is traversed over a double stroke. The traversing frequency of the thread guide is continuously varied during the bobbin travel within a predetermined deviation range around a nominal frequency. A random stringing together of individual interference patterns is generated by a random generator by selecting a target value for the traversing frequency from the deviation range for every interference pattern. The traversing frequency is adjusted by a control device on the selected target value.

Abstract: A winch drum assembly has a barrel to receive a line, and a spooling device for guiding the line onto the barrel. The line is wound onto the barrel at a point that moves axially with respect to the barrel, and the orientation of the line on the barrel is adapted to change at least once per revolution of the barrel, so that radially adjacent layers of line are non-parallel. Spooling gear is described for guiding the line and the barrel can have ramps and walls to guide the line in the different directions. Non-parallel layers of line exhibit a reduced tendency to interfere with one another, so that the spooled line comes off the barrel more consistently.

  • Publication number: 20090134263
Abstract: A method for avoiding ribbon windings in producing cross-wound bobbins at the workstations of textile machines in the “random winding” type of winding, by changing the traversing speed at which the thread is wound onto the bobbin. Each workstation has a single motor drive activated for the rotation of the cross-wound bobbin, and a single motor drive activated for a traversing thread guide. The diameters (DSP k) of the bobbin (8) which are critical with regarding to the development of ribbon windings depending on the width (BSp) of the bobbin (8) and a cross-winding angle (?) are determined, and, shortly before reaching each critical diameter (DSP k), the cross-winding angle (?) is changed to a value (?1), which avoids development of ribbon windings in this diameter region, and the cross-winding angle (?1) is reset to its original value (?) after the critical diameter (DSP k) has been passed.

  • Patent number: 6568623
Abstract: A moving strand is provided and a size is applied to the strand. A collet is rotated to wind the strand and build a package. The strand is reciprocated with a strand reciprocator to lay the strand at a wind angle on the package surface as the package rotates. A rotatable collet receives the strand to build a package. A strand reciprocator is mounted to guide the strand from edge to edge of the package and to lay the strand in a helical pattern on the package surface as the package rotates. The collet and the cam for the strand reciprocator are driven by motors. A collet inverter drive and a cam inverter drive control the rotational speed of the collet and cam, respectively. A controller is operatively connected to control the collet and cam inverter drives. A memory device such as a computer provides information to the controller of the waywind and wind angle as a function of package buildup time.

  • Patent number: 6540172
Abstract: A method for producing cheeses of the random winding type, wherein the workstations of an automatic cheese winder comprise a winding device with a yarn guide drum and a creel, both supported in an axially shiftable relation to each other, the creel holding the cheese in a rotatable manner and the yarn guide drum driving the cheese through frictional engagement, a ribbon disturbance device and an edge displacement device. The ribbon disturbance device causes a slippage by a defined adjustment of the bearing pressure of the cheese on the yarn guide drum. Relative movements between the yarn guide drum and the creel are initiated in the area of ribbon winding zones which counteract a stroke change caused by the ribbon disturbance during the winding of the yarn onto the cheese.

  • Patent number: 6402080
Abstract: In the case of an open-end spinning machine, threads are wound onto bobbins with random crosswinding. A so-called antipatterning is hereby necessary, which is usually achieved by so-called wobbling. During wobbling, the speed of the winding shaft and/or the speed of the traverse gearing is periodically altered. A first variable speed motor is provided for driving the winding shaft and a second variable speed motor is provided for driving the traverse gearing. A control device controls the variable speed motors and sets the wobble curves. The constant delivery speed of the yarn withdrawal shaft, on which a speed transmitter is disposed, serves as the master speed for the control device.

During winding, the traverse frequency is adjusted so that a first actual winding ratio parallels adjacent a first integer winding ratio. When the rotational velocity of the package decreases sufficiently, the traverse frequency is step increased so that the first actual winding ratio step decreases to the second actual winding ratio adjacent a second integer winding ratio. A ratio between the first actual winding ratio and the first integer winding ratio defines an integer offset ratio and a ratio between the second actual winding ratio and the second integer winding ratio corresponds to the integer offset ratio.

  • Patent number: 6283401
Abstract: A method and apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn, wherein the yarn is wound on a driven tube to a cross-wound package, with the yarn being reciprocated by a traversing yarn guide within a traverse stroke. The length of the traverse stroke is periodically changed, each time with a modified stroke cycle, with the yarn being deposited at the beginning of the modified stroke cycle in a starting reversal point on the outer edge of the cross-wound package. To prevent the yarn from being deposited on the circumference of the package at the same point after completion of the modified stroke cycle, the speed and/or the traverse stroke of the traversing yarn guide are controlled such that after completing the modified stroke cycle, the yarn is deposited at an end reversal point on the outer edge of the cross-wound package which is offset from the starting reversal point at the beginning of the modified stroke cycle.
