Reversely Threaded (i.e., Cam Having Opposite Threads) Patents (Class 242/483.5)
  • Patent number: 7210647
Abstract: A reel for receiving, storing, and paying out a cable, hose, or the like has a drum mounted in a frame and a level winding mechanism, which includes a carriage having a guide for the cable or hose, and a rotatable drive which moves the carriage approximately parallel to a rotational center of the drum. The rotatable drive is elongated and is mounted at each end on a mounting location attached to the frame. A source of motive power for rotating the rotatable drive is provided at each end thereof.

  • Patent number: 6435448
Abstract: A winding machine (1) includes a yarn traversing apparatus (2) including a housing (3) having an elongated opening (11). A reversing screw thread shaft (5) has an outer surface (14), it is rotatably supported in the housing (3) and it includes an endless screw thread groove (4). A traversing yarn guide (6) includes a body (7), a shuttle (8) being designed and arranged to engage the endless screw thread groove (4), a yarn guide (9) and a guide bush (12) having an inner surface (13). The traversing yarn guide (6) is designed and arranged to be driven by the reversing screw thread shaft (4) to reciprocate in an axial direction. The yarn guide (9) is designed and arranged to project out of the elongated opening (11) of the housing (3). The inner surface (13) of the guide bush (12) is designed and arranged to at least partially surround the outer surface (14) of the reversing screw thread shaft (5).

  • Patent number: 6425545
Abstract: An apparatus for forming multiple packages on a single collet includes a pair of collets that are mounted on a rotatable turret. A moving strand is provided and the collet is rotated to wind the strand and build a first package on one end of the collet. The strand is reciprocated with a strand reciprocator to lay the strand on the package surface as the package rotates. After the first package is built, a strand positioner and a secondary shoe assist in transferring the strand to build a second package on the collet. After the second package is built, the turret is rotated while the cam moves away from the collet and turret. The strand breaks off after a few revolutions of the second collet. Then, the cam moves toward the second collet to begin building a first package on the second collet.

  • Patent number: 6349896
Abstract: A collet is rotated to wind a strand and build a package. The strand is reciprocated with a strand reciprocator having a strand guide to lay the strand in a pattern on the package surface as the package rotates. As the package builds, the diameter of the package increases. A method includes a startup procedure for selecting a desired rotational speed or torque of the collet prior to building the package. As the package builds, the torque on the collet is monitored and kept within upper and lower operating curves to control the package density. The method can also monitor the torque of the cam and/or receder to control the force exerted by the strand guide on the package.

  • Patent number: 6299096
Abstract: Traversing rods in textile machines producing crosswound bobbins are often made of carbon fibers for the purpose of reducing the inertia force. These kinds of traversing rods are prone to wear at their bearing points. For this reason, the traversing rod whose bearings have a distance between them which corresponds to at least twice, preferably three times the traversing stroke, is so far displaced in its longitudinal direction in order to re-new the bearing points that other areas of the traversing rod than before now act together with the bearings.
