  • Publication number: 20020017586
Abstract: A paper web (W) is longitudinally divided into slit webs of desired widths and the slit webs are wound into rolls (R) about roll cores (H) at a winding station (17A, 17B). The web is cut by a web-severing device (16) in conjunction with the roll set change of the winding operation. At least two slitter assemblies (15A, 15B) are employed for slitting the web (W) and, when given ones of the slitter assemblies (15A, 15B) are slitting the web (W) into one set of slit webs, the desired ones of the other slitter assemblies (15A, 15B) are preset into desired slitting width positions for slitting the next set of slit webs. The winding apparatus has slitter assemblies (15) for longitudinally dividing a web (W) into slit webs and a winding station (17A; 17B) for winding the slit webs into rolls (R) and a web-severing device for cutting the web.

  • Patent number: 6338451
Abstract: In a cross cutting device for a winding machine having at least a first carrier roll (11) wrapped by the web to be wound and a second carrier roll, both carrier rolls forming a winding bed for at least one roll (13) to be wound around a winding core (14), particularly for winding paper in form of one web or several webs in parallel, a cross cutting device to cut through the web after completion of a roll (13) is formed near the front end of a support beam (24) being conductible through a clearance gap (G) between a first and second carrier roll into a cutting position of the cross cutting device which is located at or close to the surface of said first carrier roll (11). Said support beam (24) can be pressed by means of a finished wrapped roll (13) against said wrapped first carrier roll (11).

  • Patent number: 6308908
Abstract: The machine is equipped with a device for cutting the sheet to shift from one roll to another; the cutting device comprises a stand (3) on which a turret (2) has been mounted, said turret bearing at least two parallel spindles (1), each linked to rotating driving means known in the art; the rotation of the turret simultaneously removes a full roll and brings an empty spindle to the coiling station. A carriage (5) capable of motion perpendicular to the spindle axis conveys cylinders to load the machine with sheets to be rolled.

  • Patent number: 6269859
Abstract: A sheet roll forming system for forming sheet rolls by winding a heat transfer recording sheet around an outer periphery of a plurality of cores including a core supplying apparatus and a sheet roll discharge apparatus. The core supplying apparatus includes a cantilever shaft supporting the cores, a tray below the shaft and movable up and down in a direction of the shaft, and core stoppers on the tray where the shaft is an air shaft that can increase in diameter when air is supplied from a charge and exhaust apparatus. The sheet roll discharge apparatus includes the shaft supporting rolls of the recording sheet on the cores, a tray below the shaft, and a stopper on the tray.

  • Patent number: 6264130
Abstract: An apparatus and method of winding a continuously moving web, and for splicing and transferring the web from a first core to a second core with no-fold-back or wrinkling of the web material during the splice. The web is fed through a first nip point and thereby applied to a lay-on roll, the lay-on roll further applying the web material onto first and second cores alternatively. An electrostatic charging bar positioned downstream from the nip point emits an electrostatic charge onto the web to temporarily adhere the web to the lay-on roll. A rotatable cutting knife cooperatively engageable with the lay-on roll cuts the web at a point downstream from the electrostatic charging bar but upstream from the first and second cores to produce a tail and new leading edge. The tail continues to be wound about the first roll, and the new leading edge is affixed to the second roll and the web is thereafter wound about the second core.

  • Patent number: 6230998
Abstract: Winding apparatus and method for transferring a web of material from a wound roll to a winding tube. The method includes applying an adhesive surface onto a severing region of the material web that surrounds a circumferential portion of a carrier roll, lifting the severing region of the web of material away from the carrier roll, and severing the web of material within the severing region. The winding apparatus includes two carrier rolls arranged to form a winding bed, a severing device, an adhesive applicator, and a retaining device including at least one roller segment that is switchable between two states.

  • Patent number: 6192957
Abstract: A printing unit in a gravure printing portion prints a plurality of end marks on a web having a base film and a hot melt ink layer. The end marks printed on the web are dried by a drying apparatus. A sheet obtained from the web is wound around a roll shaft in a roll form by a sheet winding apparatus to form a sheet roll. The roll shaft is supplied from a roll shaft supplying apparatus to the sheet winding apparatus, and the sheet roll formed by the sheet winding apparatus is discharged from a discharging apparatus. The discharge apparatus includes a plurality of cradles in the vertical direction, a carry-out conveyor beside the cradles, a guide rail beside the cradles on the opposite side to the conveyor and arranged vertically, and receiving arms horizontally mounted on the rail and corresponding to the cradles. The arms move up and down on the rail and extend or contract horizontally from the cradles.
