  • Patent number: 7377994
Abstract: A web is threaded in the reeling of a paper or board web, by passing a web tail strip (W) into a reeling nip between a reeling drum (10) and a reel spool (12), on which a web roll is formed. The tail strip (W) is passed into the reeling nip by a suction zone (20) which extends substantially around the entire reeling drum circumference and is (10) in an area where a full-width web runs during reeling, so that the tail strip (w) can be conducted directly along the suction zone (20). The suction zone (20) is placed in the longitudinal direction of the reeling drum (10), i.e. in the width direction of the web.

  • Patent number: 6786444
Abstract: A web winding method for wrapping a web comprising steps of: feeding the web having a thickness of 5 to 70 &mgr;m at a speed of 200 to 1000 m/min; wrapping the web around a contact roller of which a coefficient of friction at each axial end surface is lower than that at an axial center surface at a wrap angle of 45 to 180°; pressing the web against an outer peripheral surface of a web roll by the contact roller; and taking up the web in a rolled manner. Then, the web winding method can conspicuously prevent occurrence of flaws or wrinkles in a web without involvement of a drop in productivity.

  • Patent number: 6325320
Abstract: Winding machine and process for winding a material web, in particular a paper or cardboard web, onto a reel. The material web is guided by a carrying drum that can be supplied with suction, and a nip is formed between the carrying drum and the reel. The carrying drum, which has a perforated casing and/or is provided with circumferential grooves, is supplied with suction by way of at least one external suction box. The suction box is disposed with at least one suction opening opposite the circumference region of the carrying drum that is not wrapped by the material web. The suction box has at least one sealing element that cooperates with the carrying drum in the vicinity of the suction opening.

  • Patent number: 6311921
Abstract: Method for winding a material web onto a reel in an apparatus that includes a rotatable feed roll, a carrying drum, a discharge roll and a pulper. Winding device for winding a material web onto a reel, said winding device including: a feed roll, a carrying drum, and a support belt which is adapted to guide the material web over the feed roll and the carrying drum. An external vacuum device is positioned adjacent a circumferential surface of the carrying drum which is not contacted by the support belt and the material web and a winding nip is formed between the carrying drum and the reel. A discharge roll is provided for guiding the support belt, and the discharge roll is located in the vicinity of a pulper, downstream from the carrying drum, relative to a web run direction. The discharge roll is also adapted to divert at least a portion of the material web to the pulper before feeding the material web to the reel.

  • Patent number: 6290168
Abstract: A reel winding device comprising a center drum, and a winder drum arrangement. The center drum and the winder drum define at least one winding bed. At least one winding roll is received in the at least one winding bed. The winder drum arrangement has a support body for each winding roll. The support body has front sides with predetermined extensions at its axial ends, thus leaving a free working space. The working space is provided to permit a roll core mechanism to be driven into place.

Abstract: Web winding device for winding a material web into a winding roll. The device comprises a rotatably driven first support roller having a circumferential shell and opposed ends, the shell having an outer surface, an inner surface and further having a plurality of shell openings therethrough. A second support roller is also provided. An end face is disposed at one of the opposed ends of the first support roller and a plurality of conduits are axially disposed within the first support roller and axially extend to the end face section, at least one of the plurality of shell openings communicating with each the conduit. A winding bed area is defined by the first and the second support roller, and adapted to support the winding roll. A suction device is mounted to the end face and provides suction to a portion of the surface of the shell. The suction device is fixed relative to the rotation of said first support roller. A pressurization device may also be used to pressurize the winding bed area.
