  • Patent number: 7475845
Abstract: An axial bearing, for a spooling roller on a spooling machine, with a shaft fixed to a machine frame, or to a machine chassis, a fixed rear cover disc, a hub freely rotating about the shaft and a flange, arranged on the free front face of the shaft with a front cover disc. At least one stud chamfers in the radial direction, away from the shaft in the region of the flange, engaging in but without projecting beyond a guide slot of a bayonet sleeve, detachably connected to the flange. The open guide slot, on the front face, rises up to an arched peak, turns away from the front face of the bayonet sleeve at a separation and runs toward the front face with a blind terminus. A pressure spring, tensioned on the shaft, is arranged between a shaft mounting and the hub, which presses the roller core with the spooling roller, over the hub, in the axial direction on the flange and forms therewith a rapid closure with the centered spooling roller.

  • Patent number: 6820838
Abstract: A reel for holding and dispensing wire that is used for tying reinforcing steel comprises a spool that rotates within a housing. The spool has a cover that covers one side of the housing and the wire that is contained on the spool. The cover is retained in place over the spool by a retaining member, which is positioned over the cover. The retaining member holds the cover in place relative to the spool by other than threaded means, so that the retaining member does not unscrew and separate from the spool or cover during use.

  • Patent number: 6726143
Abstract: The invention is an apparatus for winding line onto a spool having a hub with an inner surface defining a central cavity therein, wherein the apparatus comprises: a header having a longitudinal axis and opposing first and second sides; a pair of prongs transversely and outwardly extending from the first side of the header; a prong adjustment means for adjusting the longitudinal separation between the prongs, which as received in the cavity of the spool can be adjusted to be in snug contact with said inner surface to thereby securely hold the spool; a shaft affixed to the header so as to transversely and outwardly extend from the second side thereof; and a rotation means for rotating the shaft to thereby also rotate the header and prongs, such that the spool as securely held by the prongs is rotatable by rotation of the shaft so as to permit winding of line upon the spool.

  • Patent number: 6425548
Abstract: A core/hub assembly for a printing device that provides for easy alignment and insertion, and maintains a secure interface to prevent slippage of the core during printer operation, is disclosed. A hub includes keys mounted at a proximal end which serve to transmit torque when engaged with a core. The hub further includes splines configured to be received within a core and provide longitudinal support thereto. A core includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs that cooperate to form channels configured to receive the splines of the hub. A portion of the ribs include compliant radially oriented leaf springs which center the core on the hub and provide a physical fit of the core on the hub by engaging the keys at the proximal end of the core when properly inserted therein.

  • Patent number: 6361229
Abstract: A paper roll supporting device for an image forming apparatus includes a pair of flange members to be inserted into opposite ends of a paper roll. Each flange member includes a flange body made up of a flange portion and a cylindrical support portion that is to be inserted into a tubular core included in the paper roll. A claw member has a plurality of claws capable of protruding from the outer circumference of the support portion. A biasing member exerts a pressure on the claw member. Pressing means is slidable in a direction in which the biasing member is compressible. The pressing means receives one end of the biasing member and contacts the inner circumference of the support portion. A lock/release lever is capable of being brought down for causing the pressing means to slide. The claw member causes its pawls to flare in the radial direction when pressed in the axial direction of the support portion. The device with this configuration can be easily locked to the paper roll.

  • Publication number: 20010030253
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved reel support for rotating reels in a magnetic tape cassette inserted in a magnetic tape recording-and-playing apparatus. The reel support is a resin mold, and it comprises a support stage having a reel post and blades integrally connected to and standing upright from the support stage. The upright blades extend in the longitudinal slots made in the circumference of the upright reel post. Each upright blade has a nail formed on its tip end, partially appearing from the circumference of the upright reel post to the extent of being caught by a selected projection in the indented-aperture of either reel. Each longitudinal slot has a stepwise indent formed on one side facing the tail side of the nail of the blade, thus permitting the corner of the nail to be engaged with the stepwise indent of the one side of the longitudinal slot when the blade is yieldingly bent as a counter action to the pushing of the confronting projection.
