The combined width of the spindle and the wedge at one end is greater than the core inner diameter, while the remainder of the spindle and wedge combined width is less than the core inner diameter. To remove a sheet from a paper roll, a user will pull on an outer sheet by its edge in a direction that is perpendicular to the spindle causing the roll to spin until a desired number of sheets are unwound from the roll. Next, the user will pull the outer towel sheet in the direction of the sloping wedge-shaped projection. • Patent number: 6695248
Abstract: A light-shielded photosensitive material roll is provided in which a length of a light-shielding flanged cylinder is a length of an extent which enables easy insertion, industrially, of the flanged cylinder into a winding core of the photosensitive material roll, and also, the photosensitive material roll can be stably supported at any of various types of driving shafts. In the light-shielded photosensitive material roll, a spacer sheet, which has substantially a same thickness as a thickness of the light-shielding flanged cylinder, is bonded and fixed to an inner side wall surface of the winding core corresponding to a position at which a distal end portion of a cylindrical portion of the flanged cylinder is extended.

  • Patent number: 6688549
Abstract: An adhesive tape reel loading structure includes a displacement plate with an axle mounted thereon and being housed in a housing compartment of a tape stand and a loading disk mounting on the axle. The loading disk has an inner ring for holding a small adhesive tape reel and an outer ring for holding a large adhesive tape reel. The outer ring has an opening to allow the small adhesive tape reel mounting on the inner ring to pass through. The loading disk may be separated from the restriction of the housing compartment by moving the displacement plate by force to allow adhesive tape reels of a small inner diameter and a large inner diameter be installed on or removed from the inner ring and the outer ring for use.

Abstract: Core and spindle technology for use with ribbon materials. The invention has use in many environments in which a ribbon or sheet material is wound onto a core, for example in printers and related equipment used to produce data bearing identity documents. The core and spindle are constructed to prevent the core from locking on the spindle as a result of the core contracting as ribbon material is wound onto the core. The core and spindle permits contraction of the core without squeezing or binding the core to the spindle, so that the core can easily be removed from the spindle once the ribbon is wound onto the core.

Abstract: There is disclosed a solid preparation packaging apparatus in which a slip can be prevented from being generated between a packaging paper roll and a rotation shaft with the roll attached thereto by a simple constitution without inhibiting a replacing operation. The solid preparation packaging apparatus comprises: a plurality of tablet cases in which respective types of solid preparations are contained; and a thermally fusible packaging paper wound around in a roll shape, so that the solid preparation discharged from the tablet case is packaged in the packaging paper, wherein the packaging paper is wound around a periphery of a shaft member detachably attached to the rotation shaft to form the roll shape, an engaging portion is formed in the rotation shaft, and an engaged portion attachably/detachably joined to the engaging portion is formed in the shaft member.

  • Publication number: 20030057317
Abstract: An apparatus, assembly and method for winding elongate material onto a flanged reel, or unwinding material from a flanged reel. The apparatus includes a linear powered drive shaft and a substantially helical drive pin. The drive pin is utilized to rotate a flanged reel about the drive shaft, and the helical shape of the drive pin causes the reel to be urged onto the drive shaft thereby preventing unwanted displacement of the reel from the drive shaft. To this end, the tension of the material being wound onto, or unwound from, the reel generates a torque on the reel to cause it to screw onto the drive pin as a nut screws onto a bolt.

  • Patent number: 6508430
Abstract: A self-applicator for bandages includes a tubular body with two widened areas. One widened area has a greater length than the other widened area. At the one widened area, two internal and opposite semi-bushings are dovetailed to form a handle. At the other end of the tubular body, internal ribs provided in an axial direction are coupled to end ribs of a tubular part over which a bandage is wound. The bandage tension is adjusted at any time by pressing a finger over the other widened area of the tubular body.

  • Patent number: 6446902
Abstract: This invention provides a core and shaft assembly that enables a user to place a core of web material onto the shaft in a position for feeding the web material. This invention provides a web material core with axially positioned areas that mate with a shaft that has upwardly protruding pins thereby preventing the shaft from rotating when a core with web material wound around it that will not work in the machine is placed on the shaft. The core onto which a web of material can be wound or supported has at least one axially extending slot. The slot extends from the end of the core and ends in the central portion of the core. The shaft subassembly comprises an inner shaft having notches and an outer shaft having spring-loaded pins. The spring-loaded pins mate with the notches on the inner shaft when a core, not designed for use by the given machine, is mounted onto the shaft. The shaft assembly will cease rotating thereby causing the core with the web material wound around it to stop rotating also.
