  • Patent number: 8556206
Abstract: A core for winding floor covering material, the core being a hollow, wound paper tube having an integrally formed longitudinally oriented indentation configured to accommodate the starting edge of the floor covering material. The core eliminates the longitudinal crease often found on the final few square meters of floor covering wound around a conventional core.

  • Publication number: 20130015287
Abstract: A spool has a spirally-wound, elongated channel having a C-shaped cross-section with a pair of arms extending from a central web. The channel is oriented with the pair of arms parallel to the axis of the spool and with the central web extending radially, relative to the axis of the spool. The channel has a plurality of adjacent windings, a first and second of the arms of spirally-wound channel cumulatively forming the inner and outer surfaces of the spool. The arms are spaced apart a distance approximating the width of the central web, such that the central web of the windings of the channel is received between the arms of adjacent windings and is retained therein to establish an overlap of windings in the axial direction. Other embodiments feature S, B and E-shaped channels to form the spool, some embodiments having inner and outer layers of channel.

  • Patent number: 8267346
Abstract: A spool assembly has a central cylindrical barrel or tube portion formed from a substantially rectangular planar material, such as thin-gauge sheet aluminum or tin-plated steel, with beveled corners. The formation of the barrel from the substantially rectangular planar material results in a seam with shallow V-notches of the seams at the opposite ends of the barrel. A circular flange sub assembly is attached to each end of the barrel and extends radially outwardly perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the barrel. Each flange sub assembly comprises an outer flange and an inner flange core joined by an annular ring or curl that defines a circular hub recess or cavity for receiving the respective end of the barrel. A portion of the seam at the end of the barrel is secured within the circular hub recess or cavity; whereby the flanges are keyed onto the ends of the barrel, thereby preventing circumferential slippage of the flanges on the barrel.

  • Patent number: 7205036
Abstract: An adhesive tape product comprises a length of adhesive tape mounted on a core with a reduced tendency to telescope. A layer of compressible foam is provided between the core and the body of tape wound on the core. Alternatively, the core is fabricated to have a slight bulge in its center giving the core a barrel shape thereby reducing the tendency for the body of tape wound upon the core to telescope.

  • Patent number: 7121500
Abstract: A stackable winding core in accordance with the invention has a male end and an opposite female end. The ends are configured in such a manner that they do not hinder or prevent the insertion of chucks or mandrels into the core for winding or unwinding of web material about the core. The male end of one core is receivable into the female end of another core so that the cores can be axially stacked end-to-end, the engagement between the ends of the cores keeping the core coaxially aligned with each other. The ends are also configured to support axial loads exerted between the cores.

  • Patent number: 6394386
Abstract: A paper reel for yarn packages, and especially a paper reel of which the upper end is cut into a ladder like multiple layered end, the cut wall is folded inwardly twice, so that the end of the paper reel is folded onto a shoulder of the ladder like cut and is fixed, and the end of the paper reel will not warp nor has a paper rough edge. Both ends of the paper reel are processed to form a round shape, the ladder like portion has cut wall portions on its shoulders; the cut wall portions are folded to the shoulders one by one, the thickness formed by the cut wall portions folded back to the shoulders can afford a larger pressure when the paper reel is subjected to an axial force, thereby, the cut wall portions will not warp. The inner surface of the paper reel thereby is a smooth surface to be smoothly slipped over a rotation axle, yarn on the paper reel can thus be uninterruptedly sent out for weaving.

  • Patent number: 6267324
Abstract: A high torque capacity metal spool. The spool comprises a cylindrical barrel, a pair of flanges and a pair of flange hubs. Formed metal curls formed of metal edges of the cylindrical barrel, the flanges and the flange hubs secure the cylindrical barrel to the flanges and flange hubs. The spool includes a plurality of detents in the tightened curls of the spool. The detents in the metal spool provide for increased torque transfer between the flanges, the flange hubs and the cylindrical barrel. The ability to transfer torque increases the applicability of the spool to wire winding and pulling functions. Flattening paste also covers a metal surface in the curl to increase the coefficient of friction therein and further increase the torque transmissibility capacity.
