  • Patent number: 6676066
Abstract: A spiral winder wrinkle remover capable of wrapping a material of varying thickness into a structurally stable, smooth coil. As a material is supplied to the spiral winder, the collecting device, such as a spool, rotates and oscillates linearly along the axis of rotation to distribute the material along the length of the collecting device and form a structurally stable coil of material. As the material is directed to the collecting device it is threaded through a tilting guide. The guide tilts with the linear oscillations of the collecting device and maintains a uniform tension across the width of the material. The oscillations and tilting guide ensure that a material, particularly if the material's thickness varies along its width, is wrapped into a structurally stable coil where the layers of the coil are wrapped smoothly, without folds or wrinkles.

  • Patent number: 6282839
Abstract: A cable deflection pulley pertaining to a window lifter comprising a drive unit, a guide rail for a driver which is connected to the window and to the cable, and cable deflection pulleys with a guide or bearing groove for the cable. The device has an axially directed assembly groove in the proximity of the bearing groove to facilitate and accelerate assembly and to reduce the amount of cable required. The assembly groove contains an area adjacent to the axis of the cable deflection pulley, and an area adjacent to the bearing groove, through which the cable is pulled from the assembly groove into the bearing groove.

  • Patent number: 6273359
Abstract: A dispensing system and method for premoistened wipes. The dispensing system includes first and second longitudinally extending dispensing guides. The first guide is positioned substantially parallel and in proximity to the second guide to define a gap. The dispensing guides may each be rotatable about a longitudinally extending axis and comprise cylinders having a plurality of lands and grooves. The wipes are dispensed by passage through the gap and a dispensing opening having an edge which is defined in part by an impingement surface. The impingement surface has a first outer portion, a second outer portion and a central portion positioned between the two outer portions. The impingement surface is configured whereby the outer portions of the impingement surface more forcibly engage the wipe into engagement with the dispensing guides than the central portion of the impingement surface.

  • Patent number: 6267325
Abstract: A method and device to support a storage tape of a tape drive in the event of a loss of tape tension. Flexible bristles are provided between a tape guide and tape rollers to prevent the storage tape from “falling” below the tape guide and tape rollers and maintaining the storage tape in a position to return between the tape roller flanges when tape tension is regained. In one embodiment, a plurality of flexible bristles are provided along a lower portion of the tape guide. The bristles extend toward a bottom flange of each tape roller in a direction generally perpendicular to the tape path. In another embodiment, the flexible bristles extend radially from the bottom flange of each tape roller. In either embodiment, the bristles are rigid enough to support the storage tape and flexible enough to enable a tape buckle to traverse between the tape guide and tape roller.

  • Patent number: 6257517
Abstract: A welding wire feeding system feeds welding wire from a barrel to a welding gun. The system includes a feed mechanism for drawing welding wire from the barrel and advancing the welding wire toward the welding gun. A free-wheeling wheel is disposed between the barrel and the feed mechanism and is freely rotatable about an axis. The welding wire is wound around the wheel, whereby a curvature is imparted to an otherwise-straight welding wire. Also, any twists generated in the welding wire at the welding gun will be stopped at the wheel before reaching and fouling the barrel.

Abstract: A molten metal is deposited on the surfaces of a metal strip by continuously dipping the metal strip in a coating bath. The metal strip is lifted at a constant speed while supported with a pair of upper and lower support rolls in the coating bath. The coating weights of the molten metal deposited on the surfaces of the metal strip are adjusted by wiping the molten metal with gases from gas wiping nozzles disposed above the surface of the coating bath.
