Abstract: A device for monitoring a weft in a circular loom where the weft is drawn-off from a bobbin of the weaving shuttle rotating along a circular path formed by a circular reed. The device includes a magnetic sensor stationarily arranged in a zone of the circular path of the weaving shuttle for generating an electronic control signal to turn off the loom when there is a fault in the weft creating an operative connection between the magnetic sensor and a permanent magnet. The magnet is carried by the weaving shuttle. The device has a pivoting lever having the permanent magnet arranged thereon. The device also includes a return spring that displaces the pivoting lever as well as the permanent magnet attached thereon towards a position where the operative connection between the magnetic sensor and the permanent magnet is made.
Abstract: Rolls of printer paper are marked with information which indicates the length of paper remaining on a roll by measuring the distance between indicia successively applied by two separate print drums which each apply indicia at substantially equally spaced first and second intervals, respectively. The length of paper remaining on the roll is determinable by measuring the spacing between indicia applied by each drum. Some of the applied indicia may also be bar-coded with roll length indicia which includes a second means of determining length of paper remaining on a print roll and other information such as paper type, total roll length and name of the manufacturer. The indicia can be applied at speeds of paper travel substantially higher than the fastest known dynamic printing techniques.
Abstract: The method is provided for producing a first primary roll (8) having a predetermined lateral surface defined by a diameter D.sub.f, or for determining an amount of material available on a primary roll. The primary roll is made of material wound around a spindle (6). The material is used to produce smaller secondary rolls (12) of material. The method for producing the primary roll of material comprises steps of (a) calculating portion S.sub.f of the lateral surface, which is covered by the spindle; (b) calculating a portion S.sub.i of the lateral surface, which represents material needed to produce the smaller secondary rolls of material; (c) calculating a compression factor K1 which is derived from a compression rate K of a previous second primary roll used to produce previous secondary rolls with respect to the previous secondary rolls; (d) calculating D.sub.f where: D.sub.f =(4(S.sub.f +(S.sub.

Abstract: An apparatus for indicating line type on a fishing reel having a spool for storing a supply of fishing line and structure for wrapping the fishing line onto the spool to effect retrieval of paid out fishing line. The apparatus includes a rotatable dial or other settable structure on the fishing reel for giving a user a visual indication of which of a plurality of different types of fishing line is on the spool.
Abstract: A reel flange for a magnetic tape cassette reel has apertures for viewing the tape on the reel. The apertures provide a system for visually estimating the quantity of tape contained on the reel. The flange provides the combined advantages of greater choice of materials for making the flange and improved accuracy in estimating the quantity of tape contained on the reel.
