  • Patent number: 8567744
Abstract: A reusable device for detachably mounting an object to a platform includes a breakaway plate that is mounted to the object and a mounting bracket that is fixed to the platform. The breakaway plate is formed with a circumferential groove, and an o-ring is placed in the groove. A tooth ring having a slight gap is positioned over the o-ring. As a retaining ring is placed over the o-ring and tooth ring and fastened to the mounting bracket, the tooth ring compresses, which causes the o-ring to compress and engage the tooth ring at a breakaway force of the object. When an applied force that is greater than the breakaway force is applied to the object, the o-ring pops out to separate the object and platform. The o-ring durometer is chosen according to the magnitude of breakaway force that is desired by the user.

  • Publication number: 20130248666
Abstract: A tracking band comprises a magnetic tape and mounting tabs that secure the magnetic tape within a band clamp. The mounting tabs protrude radially inwardly toward a center region defined by the band clamp. The magnetic tape is precision-coded with a sequence of magnetic poles. The tracking band may be disposed within an annular recess of a rotating shaft of a heliostat. The tracking band may rotate with the rotating shaft. The shaft may be coupled with a minor such that the minor and rotating shaft rotate concurrently. As the tracking band rotates with the rotating shaft, the tracking band may pass by an encoder head, which may read the magnetic tape and relay information regarding the angular position of the mirror from the magnetic tape to a control system. The tracking band may thus provide altitude and azimuth position information for the mirror to a control system.

Abstract: A magnetic holding device having an elongated body which extends between a tip and a locking head. A saddle is connected to the elongated body. Said saddle having a magnet connected thereto. In operation the elongated body is wrapped around the body of a hand tool and the tip is passed through an opening in the locking head. The elongated body is passed through the locking head until the magnetic holding device is tightened over the hand tool. Once in place the magnetic holding device holds the hand tool in a convenient place near where the hand tool is being used by connecting the magnet to any metal object. In this way the magnetic holding device provides the advantage of reducing the potential for lost or misplaced hand tools by allowing for easy organization and placement of hand tools during use.

Abstract: A magnetic mounting apparatus, comprising a first modular support member having an interchangeable first module configured to slide onto a second module, and a second support member. The first module includes a first receptacle having a first channel of a first width and a second channel of a second width greater than the first width. The first and second channels form a cavity with an opening at a first surface of the first module and which proceeds toward a second surface of the first module opposite to the first surface. The first module also includes a keyed housing channel and a catch. The second module includes a first magnet and a key for attachment to the first module. The second support member includes a second magnet that is oriented to mate with the first magnet of the first modular support member.

Abstract: A corner bead magnetic bracket has a support portion with at least one magnet embedded therein. The support portion magnetically adheres to a metallic portion embedded in a wall. To increase the magnetic holding power, a washer is placed between the support portion and the magnet. The corner bead magnetic bracket has a shelf portion. To relocate or remove, a user applies enough force to break the magnetic bond and repositions to a new location. Other embodiments include wall and light sconce, vase, curio cabinet, flat shelf, etc. that are easily placed and removed as described above. Rare earth magnets are used to ensure a positive grip.

  • Patent number: 8205846
Abstract: A holding device for a shower device has a holder for the shower device that may be attached to and displaced along a hollow rod, the holder surrounding the rod in a collar-like manner. A displaceable carriage having a certain frictional effect and comprising two magnets is disposed in the rod. The holder has two magnets for attachment on the rod such that, in the holding position, the magnets of the carriage interact with the magnets of the holder under a magnetic attractive force so as to prevent the holder from sliding downward because a clamping or frictional effect results from the attractive force of the magnets.

  • Patent number: 8191846
Abstract: A magnetic support (10) for aquariums includes a first and a second support element (20a, 20b), each of them having a magnet (26a, 26b) so that by coupling the first and second support elements (20a, 20b) by interposing an aquarium wall (50) between them, the attracting magnetic force operating between the two magnets (26a, 26b) locks the two support elements (20a, 20b). Each support element (20a, 20b) comprises a flat element (40a, 40b) made up of flexible material having a peripheral projecting lip (46a, 46b), so that when the two support elements (20a, 20b) are coupled together by interposing the wall (50), the peripheral projecting lips (46a, 46b) are flattened against the wall (50), thus creating a suction effect.
