  • Patent number: 9345986
Abstract: A method for evaporation and possibly distillation of liquids by means of a heat pump is provided. By using a heat pump (2), energy is taken from energy reservoir(s) (1) such as rivers, sea water, air, or ground heat. However, it is difficult to obtain temperatures high enough to evaporate water at atmospheric conditions. According to the invention, low temperature heat is utilized by means of a heat pump by using the condenser of the heat pump to evaporate liquids in an evaporator (4?) at a pressure lower than atmospheric pressure, and thus at a lower evaporation temperature. Furthermore, the saturation of the evaporated liquids is eliminated before the evaporated liquids enter the compressor (10) by the further heating of the evaporated liquids leaving the liquids evaporator (4?) in a heat exchanger (11) that utilizes the peak temperature of the refrigerant that leaves the heat pump's refrigerant compressor (3).

Abstract: A slip-on eave brace and a system incorporating the same for providing fall arrest on a sloped roof is disclosed. The slip-on eave brace has a soffit load distributing member, a vertical member coupled to the soffit load distributing member at one end portion thereof, and a sloped roof engaging member coupled to an opposite end portion of the vertical member. A safety line attachment member is fixed to an opposite end portion of sloped roof engaging member to the coupling with the vertical member. In a fall arrest event, fall forces are transferred via the safety line into the slip-on eave brace and into the eave of a sloped roof. A sloped roof fall arrest system can use one or more slip-on cave braces to provide fall protection to one or more workers on a sloped roof.

Abstract: A system for securing one or more heating cables to a roof and having one or more apparatuses, each apparatus including a metal base panel and a continuous metal C-shaped channel integrally-formed with the base panel. The channel includes a pair of opposing continuous channel walls creating and surrounding a continuous cavity having a cross-sectional cavity shape substantially identical for at least a majority thereof to the cross-sectional shape of the cable. The channel walls are resiliently flexible to enable receipt of a continuous length of the heating cable within the cavity such that the heating cable is in snug continuous contact with the channel to enhance heat conductance from the heating cable to the base panel.
