Vertical Pivot Patents (Class 248/289.11)
  • Patent number: 7261272
Abstract: A conical rotary joint is provided for a vehicle mirror assembly and the like having a fixed mount and a moveable support arm. A base is carried by one of the fixed mount and moveable arm, and a conical receptacle is carried by the base. A conical plug body is received in the conical receptacle. The conical plug is carried by the other of the fixed mount and support arm. The conical receptacle has a conical bearing surface which mates with the conical bearing surface of the conical plug. A biasing element presses the conical bearing surfaces together in a tight fit to reduce play and wear. First and second indents correspond to operating and folded positions of the support arm, and biased operator has a first deflected position in which the operator engages with a selected indent to retain the support arm in position.

Abstract: An adjustable garment rod includes a mounting bracket, an inner housing, a resilient element and a suspension arm. The mounting bracket has an arm slot and a first toothed ratchet surface and second toothed ratchet surface formed alongside the arm slot. The inner housing is mounted pivotally in the arm slot and holds the suspension arm. The suspension arm extends out of the arm slot and has two toothed protrusions. The resilient element presses the suspension arm so that the toothed protrusions engage the toothed ratchet surfaces to hold firmly the suspension arm at a given angular position. Further, the garment rod uses several simple parts so that assembling the garment rod is easy and quick, which saves costs and time.

  • Patent number: 6817583
Abstract: A mount assembly and method of installing a headliner and a visor in a vehicle having a mounting surface. Initially, a first bracket is attached to a headliner. A second bracket is attached to an arm of a visor. A retainer is preferably attached to the second bracket in a snap-fit engagement, and temporarily attaches the first bracket to the second bracket, thereby defining a modular headliner assembly. The headliner assembly is then positioned adjacent the mounting surface. The second bracket is then moved relative to the first bracket, preferably by rotating, such that the mounting surface is disposed between portions of the first and second brackets, thereby securing the headliner assembly to the mounting surface. The retainer then no longer functions to temporarily attach the first bracket to the second bracket. Preferably headliner assembly is assembled in a manufacturing facility and subsequently transported to a vehicle assembly facility for securing to the mounting surface.

  • Patent number: 6484988
Abstract: A biased-assisted sign mounting system for mounting an associated sign to an associated structure includes a mount portion configured for attaching to the structure, an arm mounted to the mount portion and having a pivot portion defining a pivot axis about the mount portion, and a biasing element operably connected to the mount portion and to the arm. The mount and arm each have a biasing element capturing portion at which the biasing element is captured. The biasing element is moveable between a more stressed state and a less stressed state. The arm is pivotal between first and second positions and is stopped at the first and second positions by engagement with the mounting portion. The arm is secured into the first and second positions by the biasing element tending toward the less stressed state and, when the arm is disposed between the first and second positions, the biasing element is urged into the more stressed state.

  • Patent number: 6439588
Abstract: Attachment bracket with attachment plate for fixing a V-shaped torque rod. The bracket (21) has a support plate (22) intended to be fixed on a frame member, and a bearing surface (23) which forms an angle of less than 90° with the support plate and against which an attachment plate (19) fixed to the torque rod is intended to be screwed securely. The bracket and the plate have slots (27, 28, 31) which are open to the sides and which receive screws (29, 30), that slot (27) of the bracket nearest the support plate being designed so that the screw can be pivoted between a mounting position parallel to the support plate and a position at right angles to the bearing surface.

  • Patent number: 6311939
Abstract: An integrated mouse pad and wrist and arm support which can be attached to a desk chair and which provides support for both the wrist and arm of a computer operator. The device provides a support arm with a mouse pad at one end and enables the user's wrist and arm to rest at approximately the same level as the mouse pad. Use of the device reduces stress to the wrist, arm, shoulder and neck during use of the mouse. The device is attached to the chair by an attachment member, the height of which can be adjusted as desired by the operator. The angular position of the support arm with respect to the operator can be adjusted to a selected ergonomic position. In one embodiment, the length of the support arm can be adjusted to a selected ergonomic position.

  • Patent number: 6170598
Abstract: An electrically-driven wheelchair is provided with a frame, drive wheels, an operator control panel and a support lever. The operator control panel controls action of the drive wheels. The lower side of the operator control panel is supported to the upper side of the support lever. The support lever is connected to the frame, and supports the operator control panel. The lower side of the support lever is connected to the frame so that the support lever can be rotated in the longitudinal direction and the lateral direction and can be adjustable. The upper side of the support lever is connected to the operator control panel so that the operator control panel can be rocked forward and rearward and leftward and rightward and can be movable. In the support structure of the operator control panel of the invention, not only the arrangement position of the operator control panel at the front and rear sides and the left and right sides but also the height of the operator control panel can be adjusted.
