Counterbalance Weights Patents (Class 248/364)
  • Patent number: 4470572
Abstract: A balancing device of a unit formed by a first machine carriage (1) supporting a second mobile carriage (4) on the first, in any direction other than the vertical, by means of a counterweight (6) connected to the first carriage (1) via chains (7, 8). This transmission comprises at least two chains (7 and 8) connected to said first carriage (1) via return-pulleys (13, 14) entrained by said chains (7 and 8) and acting on a torsion shaft (15), the relative length of the chain sections (7a, 8a) connecting the pulleys (13, 14) to said first carriage (1) being variable as a function of the displacement of the second carriage (4).

  • Patent number: 4296906
Abstract: A device having an arm which is pivotable around a first axle in a first plane of motion and is counterbalanced by means of a counterweight and wherein the first plane of motion is pivotable around a second axle which is perpendicular to the first axle. In order to permit the use of only one counterweight the counterweight is so coupled to the arm that, on pivoting of the arm, it moves along a straight line located in the first plane of motion, the counterweight and the center of gravity of the arm being on different sides of the second axle.

  • Patent number: RE29735
Abstract: A remotely controlled rotational lighting system for illuminating any chosen area of a room. A first motor is mounted on the ceiling at the approximate center of the area to be illuminated. A main support arm extends from the shaft of the motor and lies in a substantially horizontal plane. A second motor is suspended at one extremity of the main support arm and mates with a fixture support arm. A cluster of lighting elements is mounted at one extremity of the fixture support arm, while a set of counterweights is mounted at the other extremity. The end of the main support arm remote from the fixture support arm is provided with a set of counterweights so that the main support arm is in substantially perfect balance at its point of association with the ceiling-mounted motor.
