On Inclined Guide Or Slide Patents (Class 248/420)
  • Patent number: 4487391
Abstract: A seat adjustment mechanism especially suited for motor vehicle seats is composed of at least one motor mechanism for adjustably moving a seat member through a drive connection having at least two mutually engaging force transmission parts. In order to avoid rattling of the adjustment mechanism when adjusting movement of the seat is to be effected in a direction where the adjusting movement is abetted by the weight of the seat member itself, a braking device is provided which counteracts the adjusting force of the motor mechanism applied in that direction.

  • Patent number: 4479626
Abstract: A vehicle seat, the seat portion of which has an adjustable inclination, is supported on two concave guide rails (as viewed from the seat portion) which are supported by a seat frame and extend in the longitudinal direction of the seat portion so that the seat portion is longitudinally adjustable and can be locked in a selected position by means of a locking device. The locking device is arranged in the central section of the seat portion and includes a straight bar extending in the longitudinal direction of the seat portion. The ends of the bar are connected with the seat frame. This bar supports an adjusting member which can be adjusted steplessly in its longitudinal direction and can be secured in any position against a longitudinal movement. A coupling member is coupled with this adjusting member and is connected on its other end with the seat portion which is longitudinally adjustable on the guide rails.

  • Patent number: 4364536
Abstract: A seat adjusting mechanism, arranged to be operated by an electric motor, for use with a motor vehicle seat is disclosed. The seat adjusting mechanism is supported by at least two slide tracks which extend along the length of the seat and which are placed through glide tracks each spaced away from the vehicle floor. The seat adjusting mechanism comprises at least one rack situated on one of said guide tracks and extends along the length of the guide track. The rack has one end connected by means of a connecting body to the slide track lying above it. The rack contains a long slot which has teeth formed on one side thereof for contacting a pinion which is situated to engage the teeth and is connected to an electric motor for movement of the seat adjusting mechanism. The width of the long slot in the rack serves to retain the pinion in engagement with the teeth of the slot.

  • Patent number: 4322052
Abstract: Recurring problems associated with the manufacturing tolerances of the links, slides, rollers and other componentry forming the carriages for adjustable and reversible seats are such that, after assembly, an undesirable and annoying amount of movement or "play" is introduced in the seat. The present invention is an improved latch assembly (15) for locking a vehicle operator's seat assembly (10) in either a forward or a reverse operating position (12,13) and includes a cam (92) selectively positionable in response to movement of the seat assembly (10) and an arm assembly (108) and a pin (118) for releasably engaging the cam (92) and cooperating therewith in locking the seat assembly (10) in position.

  • Patent number: 4186904
Abstract: An adjustable seat of a motor vehicle has a mounting arrangement at each of its lateral regions. The respective mounting arrangement includes an elongated carrier, a support rail which is connected to the seat proper and is displaceable longitudinally of the carrier, and a pivot which mounts the carrier, which extends in the front-to-rear direction, for tilting along a vertical plane. A drive and a driving section of a transmission are mounted on the carrier, the driving section including two pinions which are simultaneously driven by the drive and one of which meshes with a driven rack rigidly connected to the support rail, while the other pinion meshes with another driven rack which is provided at one side of an elongated slot in a support element for the seat proper and is curved having its center of curvature on the axis of the above-mentioned pivot.

  • Patent number: 4174088
Abstract: There is disclosed an adjusting mechanism for a vehicle seat which is adjustable in guideways in the longitudinal direction and whose inclination is variable by another adjusting device. In this arrangement, the adjusting device for longitudinal adjustment is automatically coupled with the adjusting device for inclination adjustment. This coupling is achieved by a train of toothed gears having a shaft associated with the longitudinal adjustment and another shaft associated with the inclination adjustment.
