Abstract: A book support for maintaining a book in a suspended position comprises a book holder and a light source with a lamp shade. The book holder is supported by the lamp shade which depends from a suspension member, the lamp shade having three arms, two of said arms extending substantially in an orthogonal direction relative to the other two arms, the lamp shade being pivotable in a vertical plane so as to move the book holder on an axis which is parallel to the main axis.
Abstract: A book support swivelably mounted on an elongated swinging arm includes a book support ledge having a pair of cutouts in which are mounted spring loaded page clamping blocks. The blocks are slideably mounted around axles in the cutouts and may be rotated about the axles to either extend above the ledge for clamping action or to be generally in line with the top of the ledge to allow pages to be turned.
Abstract: A plate-like support member of rectangular configuration has a surface, a first pair of parallel edges and a second pair of parallel edges perpendicular to and shorter than the first pair of edges bounding the surface. A mounting device is swivelly affixed to the support member at an upper of the first pair of edges and swivelly affixed to the headboard of a bed for adjustably selectively positioning the support member relative to the headboard. A ledge extends from the surface of the support member along a lower of the first pair of edges and has a first ledge surface parallel to and spaced from the surface of the support member and a second ledge surface perpendicular to the surface of the support member and extending from the surface to the first ledge surface for supporting a book resting on the support member in open position.
Abstract: A book holder is erectable from a totally flat storage position to an elevated use position providing an inclined table having a shelf pivotally attached thereto. A slide assembly disposed upon the outer edge of the shelf includes a pair of pivotally mounted fingers independently laterally displaceable to allow selective positioning of the fingers upon the margins of an open book disposed upon the table and supported against the shelf. Manually releasable means are included to permit adjustment of the inclination of the table and position of the shelf relative the table.
Abstract: A stand for supporting an open book in an upright reading position on a horizontal surface, includes a base frame and a book support assembly together defining a book supporting plane supported at a desired angle relative to the table. The support assembly is pivotally supported on the base frame about a generally vertical axis, and includes structure for supporting the weight of the book. The base frame includes page holding arms, pivotable in the book supporting plane to be engaged by the open pages of the book; and the support assembly includes spring arm means engaging the backs of the book covers to urge the covers and pages into engagement with the page holding arms. The support assembly is rotatable 180.degree. relative to the base frame to support the book in either of two alternative positions in the book supporting plane, the book being rearwardly inclined in one position and forwardly inclined in the alternative position.
Abstract: A device for facilitating the holding of reading material for easy reading, freeing the reader's hands for any desirable work. The device consists of an upstanding backing member against which the binding of the book or other reading material is supported and in combination with this backing, I provide a base support for the reading material. Upstanding from this base support is a spaced apart pair of page supports and cooperative with these upstanding members is a pair of biased fingers one being provided for each page support, these fingers being independently operable. The fingers are biased towards the page members. The device also includes means whereby the backing member, the reading material base support and the upstanding page supports are adjustable to vary the angle of the reading material relative to the horizontal. When the above mentioned members are adjusted to various positions, the biased fingers continue to be in releasable engagement with the page supports.
