  • Patent number: 5110082
Abstract: An adjustable support system for use in anchoring a machine or other load to a foundation is disclosed. The system includes a base chock having a horizontal floor with an open slot formed in the floor to permit retrofitting around an installed anchor bolt. A frame chock is shaped to rest on the floor of the base chock; in many applications the frame chock is preferably poured in place around the anchor bolt. A retractable shim carrier, shaped to rest on the floor of the base chock between the floor and the frame chock, likewise has an open slot formed therein for insertion around the anchor bolt. One or more shims of varying thicknesses are shaped like the shim carrier to be inserted as needed, riding upon the shim carrier, between the floor of the base chock and the lower surface of the frame chock.

  • Patent number: 4784364
Abstract: For supporting heat and vibration producing machinery on grouted foundations, high-strength plastic chock halves, which may be glass-polyester laminates, are used beneath machinery conventional steel sole plates resting on conventional plastic grout. The plastic material is characterized by a greater flexibility and much lesser thermal conductivity than steel, so they serve as barriers to the transmission of heat, while their flexible resiliency protects the foundation from vibrations attendant to operation of the machinery so supported. Leveling steel shims inserted between the chock halves do not impair the uniformity of the flexible resiliency they afford at each support point. Fretting wear of the machinery bed plates appears to be completely eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4512543
Abstract: A universal printer stand includes a platform having at least two parallel support members, at least two channel-shaped cross members transversely disposed on the support members and means disposed on the cross members for receiving the support legs of a printer. Means are provided for adjusting the receiving means to accommodate the lateral and longitudinal distances between the printer support legs. The receiving means includes a plurality of longitudinal slots in the cross members and cup-shaped members adjustably disposed in the slots. The cup-shaped members are adapted to receive the feet disposed on the legs of the printer, if the printer is so equipped. Alternatively, if the printer legs are in the form of threaded bolts, the bolts may be inserted through any of the longitudinal slots in the cross members so that the printer can be secured to the stand by nuts threaded onto the bolts.

  • Patent number: 4337022
Abstract: An injection molding installation includes a box-like mounting base 1 on which are disposed a molding press 2 and a pressure injection apparatus 3. The press 2 includes fixed opposite end plates 4 and 7 mounted directly on the base 1 and an intermediate movable plate 5 slidably bearing on the base via an adaptor wedge A. The injection apparatus includes a motor driven rotary screw conveyor 18 and a plastics material feed funnel 19, and is removably mounted on the base 1 via an interchangeable support rail 22 clamped by internal cross bars 25 to the base or to intermediate spacer inserts 26 mounted thereon. The use of the adaptor wedge and interchangeable support rails enables the accommodation and mounting of molding presses and injection apparatuses having different sizes and configurations on a common and thus standardized mounting base.

  • Patent number: 4212562
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for leveling a relatively massive template structure which is positionable on the ocean bottom in proximity to one or more sites of subterranean wells. Since the template is primarily utilized to mount or guide later applied drilling, completion or production equipment, it is essential that the template be positioned on its fixing piles in a precise horizontally level position. Accordingly, a plurality of sleeves are secured to the template which respectively loosely encircle the hollow fixing piles. Hydraulically operated clamp means are provided to lock the encircling sleeves at any selected vertical position to a respective fixing pile. A hydraulic elevating mechanism is lowered into the top open end of at least one such fixing pile and utilized to effect the lifting of the sleeve and adjacent portion of the template to which the sleeve is secured to a height approximating the desired level position.
