  • Patent number: 10053876
Abstract: Embodiments of modular building units (blocks) are disclosed that can be stacked to provide insulating concrete forms (ICFs). The blocks are formed of a foamed polymer material, such as foamed polyurethane. The blocks, when assembled together in an ICF, are configured to form one or more vertical columns of concrete and one or more horizontal beams of concrete intersecting the one or more columns, in a manner of post and beam construction. The blocks can be tightly interlocked with other blocks in a construction process. The disclosed blocks can include significant interior space for rebar and concrete to be inserted to construct the structure. Molds and methods for producing modular units are also disclosed. The molds and methods enable rapid production and removal of modular building units from the molds. Methods of constructing structures using the modular building units are also disclosed.

Abstract: The outstanding tensile strength of some materials are used in compression applications by using air pressure to supply the outward force on an enclosure and by using interior tension members to maintain the geometry of the air-pressurized structure. The air pressure on each face of the structure is balanced by the tension in the tension members. Due to the high modulus of the tension members, the air-pressurized structures are very rigid. It is the air pressure that actually supports any load placed on the structure, but it is the tension members that maintain the geometry when the load is removed, and the strength of the tension members determine how much air pressure can be sustained. The mass of tension material required in such a structure is roughly equivalent to the amount of filament material required in a cable to support the same load. The Compressed-air Rigid Building Blocks can be stacked like bricks to form strong, lightweight walls, buildings, towers, and other structures.

Abstract: An arrangement for casting in a mould of so-called battery design longitudinal concrete bodies with a high degree of linearity. The moulds consist of pipes of substantially circular cross-section, these being placed on top of beams which, within a frame, extend parallel to the longitudinal sides of the frame. The beams constitute lower casting boundaries in the process of casting and each two adjacent pipes constitute two lateral boundary sides in the process of casting. The underside of each mould pipe is levelled and provided with a longitudinal rail of upside-down T-shape, which is cut out at several points and at mutually identical distances. A plurality of plates each with a Y-shaped recess are placed between the top edges of the beams and at the same distances as the cut out rails.
