  • Patent number: 5531949
Abstract: A method and mold for making a wheel of a roller skate including a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart generally axially extending curvilinear paths. A speed skater, traveling a predominately circular course with such wheels properly aligned on such skates, is able to use air moving past the skater to increase skating speed. As air enters the curvilinear paths of the wheel the direction of air flow changes. In this manner, momentum is transferred from the moving air to the spinning wheels, thus increasing the number of revolutions of the wheel and the speed of the skater. The mold may be formed of polyurethane and use flexible fingers to form the curvilinear paths of the wheel.

A plurality of grooves are formed in the conic cavity which communicates with a tubular section wherein the soft plastic is introduced such that a body portion and a stranded skirt are formed when plastic is injected between the mold plates and the conic insert. The apparatus may be used for forming double skirted lures or conventional non-skirted lures by internal injection when a stripper bar is used to partially seal the mold distribution channel.

  • Patent number: 4919189
Abstract: A method for forming an as-cast hole by using a core involves forming an undercut and casting by using a core die which is slidable at an angle with respect to mold closing and opening directions. At the same time, an as-cast hole with an axial direction different from the slide direction of the core die is formed. To form the as-cast hole, a floating core is slidably disposed in the core die for movement in the axial direction of the as-cast hole. An apparatus for practicing the method includes a stationary die, a movable die and the core die containing the slidable floating core.

  • Patent number: 4856980
Abstract: An apparatus for making parts having complex geometric shapes by injection molding apparatus. The apparatus avoids the formation of a parting line in the molded object. The apparatus includes an injector plate, an ejector plate and a floating plate. The injector plate has at least one mold cavity for making a part and a passageway to allow molten plastic to enter the mold cavity. The ejector plate has at least one mold cavity corresponding to the mold cavity in the injector plate. The floating plate has at least one projection. The plates are adapted to fit together when the mold is closed so that the floating plate is between the injector and ejector plates and the projection fits centrally between the cavities of the injector and ejector plates. A mechanism moves the injector plate, ejector plate and floating plate with respect to one another.

Abstract: A hollow core for a concrete block is cast from an abrasion resistant alloy steel known in the trade as #8620. The core is generally rectangular in cross section and includes a top wall and depending side walls. The side walls are ground to a mirror-finish and the fine tooling grooves formed when the side walls are ground are all parallel to each other and transverse to the top wall of the core. This greatly lessens the frictional resistance between the core and the cement greatly increasing the useful life of the core in comparison the cores previously constructed.

  • Patent number: 4765585
Abstract: A conventional injection mold of the type having two half parts, and slides connected to core parts which slide inwardly and outwardly as the mold half parts open and close, have mounted therein slide retainers which lock the slides in position with respect to a slide plate in one of the mold half parts when the mold halves are fully opened. The retainers include a latch portion mounted to the slide and having a camming surface facing away from the core of the mold and a V-shaped notch therein, and a slide lock mounted below the surface of the slide plate and having a plunger with a head which extends upwardly above the flat surface of the slide plate. The head of the plunger is formed in a V-shape to match the V-shaped notch of the latch and is spring biased upwardly to provide a firm engagement between the plunger head and the latch when the slide is in the fully opened position. A stack of bowed, spring loaded washers may be utilized to apply the spring bias against the plunger to drive it upwardly.
