Abstract: A roller for transporting a recording medium includes an inner layer having a shaft hole through which a rotating shaft passes; and an outer layer formed outside the inner layer and brought into contact with the recording medium. At least a first end surface of the inner layer in a direction along the rotating shaft is located inside the outer layer remote from end surfaces of the outer layer in the direction along the rotating shaft.
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a device for preparing and feeding a monolithic ceramic mass into a metallurgical melting vessel, including a mixer 30 and a feeding device 32, characterized in that the mixer 30 and the feeding device 32 are designed as a compact unit 28 for arrangement above the metallurgical vessel, wherein the mixer 30 and/or the feeding device 32 are arranged relative to one another and movably such that the mass prepared in the mixer 30 can be directly introduced at any desired point of the metallurgical vessel via the feeding device 32.
Abstract: A ball screw system has a screw (1, 2) and a nut (3) mounted thereon by means of balls (5). Redirecting portions (6) which delimit redirecting channels for circulating balls running in thread grooves of the screw and the nut are formed in openings extending transversely in the nut. The openings in the nut are filled with an initially liquid, solidifiable or curable material. The redirecting ball or recirculating channels are thereby cast therein.
Abstract: Apparatus for splicing ends of a sheave insert material in which the ends of a premeasured length of an elastic, thermoset sheave insert material are laminated together in a special splicing jig for fabricating a unitized insert loop, which is subsequently stretched around a sheave into a preformed insert receiving slot along the circumference thereof. The jig holds the ends of the premeasured length of insert material in alignment as a heated mold, included therein, fits snugly around the ends and applies heat to the joint therebetween, into which the insert material, in liquid form, has been inserted to join the ends. The heat thus applied to the joint accelerates the curing of the liquid into the same consistency as the insert; thereby producing a unitized bond between the ends by which the unitized loop is thus formed.

Abstract: An annular bronze bearing is bonded to a cylindrical inner surface of a metallic member by positioning the member in a fixture to define an annular chamber therein, communicating a charge of bronze alloy particles to the chamber via an open end thereof, melting the alloy and cooling the member and alloy to form the bearing. The apparatus comprises a pair of plates adapted to clamp the metallic member therebetween to define the annular chamber between the member and a cylindrical core. A ceramic funnel is secured on the upper one of the plates to communicate the melted bronze alloy particles to the annular chamber via the open end thereof.
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for forming a part including a bore with a bearing integrally cast thereto, the thus formed part and apparatus for thus forming the part. The process includes hot machining a bore into a billet in a non-oxidizing atmosphere and introducing molten bearing material, e.g., molten bronze about a mandrel positioned in the bore while maintaining the billet, the mandrel and the bearing material in the non-oxidizing atmosphere. The mandrel is drawn from the bore while the bearing material is cooled by cooling and solidifying means therein adjacent an end of the mandrel which is last to exit the bore. The cooling is sufficient to progressively solidify the material as the mandrel is drawn through it and out of the bore.
