  • Patent number: 7763856
Abstract: An excitation component or arrangement can provide excitation to a moving object so that information is encoded in time variation of light emanating from the object. For example, in each of a sequence of segments, it can provide a respective non-binary excitation spectrum, and the spectra can be different with a non-interference-like transition between them; because the object emanates light differently in response to the different spectra, photosensing results can be obtained that include encoded information about the object. The non-binary spectra could be different intermediate intensities, such as different gray levels or different intensities of one color or could be different colors. The excitation can be provided in a pattern with non-interference-like transitions between regions, and object motion can also be controlled.

  • Patent number: 7723700
Abstract: A vapor delivery system for delivering a steady flow of sublimated vapor to a vacuum chamber comprises a vaporizer of solid material, a mechanical throttling valve, and a pressure gauge, followed by a vapor conduit to the vacuum chamber. The vapor flow rate is determined by both the temperature of the vaporizer and the setting of the conductance of the mechanical throttle valve located between the vaporizer and the vacuum chamber. The temperature of the vaporizer is determined by closed-loop control to a set-point temperature. The mechanical throttle valve is electrically controlled, e.g. the valve position is under closed-loop control to the output of the pressure gauge. In this way the vapor flow rate can be generally proportional to the pressure gauge output. All surfaces exposed to the vapor from the vaporizer to the vacuum chamber are heated to prevent condensation.

Abstract: A process for the manufacture of rollers for the printing of laminar materials, a machine for carrying out the process and a printing support for printing rollers. A printing support is wholly manufactured within an irradiating machine equipped with visible marks located on the lower plate and on the machine. The laminar support supports the plates positioned on a dimensionally stable substrate sheet on which marks are made accurately in the same location relative to the overall image as a reference axis for subsequent positioning on the roller and on which also matching marks are printed or engraved. Some of these marks are repeated on films which restrict the passage of ultraviolet light, one of the films having transparent areas which present elements of one colour of the image which has to be printed while the remaining film represents mounts surrounding such elements.

Abstract: A sorption micro-array (1) for sorbing a substance off an assay sample comprises a support (11) and a plurality of sorption elements (14). The plurality of sorption elements (14) is arranged in a well defined geometry in connection with the support (11), wherein the distance between each sorption element (14) and its adjacent sorption element (14) is predefined. Since all of the sorption elements (14) are arranged at a well defined location of the sorption micro-array (1), e.g. in a row with well defined distances from each other, the output of an analysis of substances sorbed by each of the sorption elements (14) can exactly be allocated to a well defined location of an assay sample from which the substances have been sorbed. Like this, it is possible to provide an exact chemical output image of the micro-distribution of the substances of the assay sample.

Abstract: A mass spectrometer capable of measuring under switching two ion sources at different pressure levels in which a sample gas separated by GC column is branched, and separately introduced to a first ion source (for example, APCI ion source) and a second ion source (for example, EI ion source) at a pressure level lower than that of the first ion source respectively. Preferably, the flow rate of the sample gas introduced to the APCI ion source is made more than the flow rate of the sample gas introduced to the EI ion source, so that the pressure for each of the ion sources can be maintained and analysis can be conducted by each ionization at a good balance in view of the sensitivity.
