Constrained Linear Motion Of Latch With Rigidly Associated Manipulator Patents (Class 251/113)
  • Patent number: 10955065
Abstract: A locking apparatus for a rotatable lever of the type used to control a valve. The apparatus is formed from a wedge-like base element, a wedge-like blocking element and a plurality of guide posts. The base element is fixedly attached to the valve body. The blocking element is penetrated by plural guide passages. Each guide post passes through a corresponding guide passage in the blocking element, and is threaded into the base element. A spring is interposed between the blocking element and the base element. When the spring is uncompressed, the blocking element obstructs rotation of the lever. External pressure in opposition to the spring can urge the blocking element toward the base element. When the blocking element is so positioned, the lever may be rotated.

Abstract: A unisex ball valve coupling includes an interface end that engages an interface end of a mating coupling half assembly. A valve of the coupling has a valve body, which has an open position in which fluid flow is permitted through the internal passage and a closed position in which the valve body closes off fluid flow through the internal passage. A valve shaft rotates with the valve body between the open position and the closed position. The valve shaft has a first surface. A blocking member is movable from a blocking position to a non-blocking position within the body portion. In the blocking position, the blocking member engages the first surface of the valve shaft to secure the valve body in the closed position and, in the non-blocking position, the blocking member does not engage the first surface of the valve shaft to permit opening of the valve.

The method includes sensing and providing a signal indicative of a fluid pressure inside of a mass flow controller with a pressure sensor contained within the mass flow controller, determining a response of a control valve to a rapid pressure perturbation at the inlet of the mass flow controller using the signal indicative of the fluid pressure to avoid overcompensation for the rapid pressure perturbation, and adjusting a control valve contained within the mass flow controller downstream of the pressure sensor, based on the determined response, so that the mass flow controller avoids overcompensating for the rapid pressure perturbation. The pressure sensor is positioned such that the pressure sensor is sensitive to rapid pressure perturbations at the inlet of the mass flow controller.

  • Patent number: 4662394
Abstract: A flow control apparatus for use primarily in plug-type and ball-type valves provides means for continuously varying the flow rate of fluid through the valve while using the same operator that is used to control the open and closed position of the valve. The upper trunnion is integrally connected to a butterfly member and connected to the plug by a mechanical linkage comprising a latch rod and a roller latch with corresponding detents in the valve body and upper trunnion, respectively. The butterfly member controls the fluid flow with the plug in the open position in response to 90 degrees of overtravel in the same operator that controls the position of the plug.

  • Patent number: 4546954
Abstract: The valve comprises a two-piece housing consisting of a body and a flat cover. The body is milled out to define a working chamber. A port extends through the body wall to communicate with the chamber; a second port extends through the cover wall. The two ports are aligned at one side of the chamber, so that the remainder of the chamber provides a storage cavity. A gate valve comprising a stem and gate is wholly contained within the chamber. The base of the stem is pivotally connected on a shaft journalled in the housing, so that the gate may be rotated or swung along an arc from the storage cavity to a blocking position across the ports. Disengageable means are provided to normally lock the gate valve in the stored position. Means are also provided to bias the gate valve to the blocking position when the locking means are disengaged. The assembly is flat and compact and is particularly adapted to fit in the crowded confines of an engine.

  • Patent number: 4444220
Abstract: An erosion resistant control valve or adjustable choke has a body with a side inlet, an end outlet and a conical valve seat in alignment with the outlet. Downstream from the valve seat are a converging passage having a smaller taper than the valve seat, a cylindrical passage and a diverging passage. A stem aligned with the seat assembly includes a plug having a tapered seal surface near its upstream end for engaging the valve seat and a converging control surface downstream therefrom with the same taper as the converging passage. The smaller end of the control surface is in the cylindrical passage when the valve is closed and in the converging passage is fully open for localizing erosion downstream from the valve seat. A bleed passage relieves pressure from within the valve before the valve bonnet can be removed. The valve can be locked in a selected control setting by a split ring engaging the stem.

  • Patent number: 4442853
Abstract: A safety gas valve with latch against non-permitted reopening has the connector of the thermoelectric power unit located on the same side of the housing as the push button of the operating rod which is born shiftable and turnable in the housing. For this purpose, besides a first lever, carrying the closure member and a latch as part of the latching mechanism and cooperating with the power unit, there is provided a second lever which is tiltable around the stationary axis of the first lever. The one end of the second lever engages the armature pin of the power unit, where the other end is positioned opposite an inclined surface of the latch and disengages the latch from the first lever which carries the closure member. In the normal operating position, a projection of the latch keeps the safety valve open. After closing the valve manually, a portion of the latch is located opposite a stationary abutment until the power unit is deenergized after cooling down the thermocouple.

A globe type valve element is adapted for seating engagement with respect to the removable seat and is positionable within the valve body by means of a valve actuating stem. A connection element establishes a lost-motion connection between the valve element and valve stem and thus allows relative movement between the valve element and valve stem during check valve type operation. The valve stem is also positionable within the valve body structure so as to maintain the valve element in positive seated engagement with respect to the valve seat.
