Abstract: A valve component utilized in a fluid end assembly of a reciprocating pump may contain a multi-piece construction. The valve component may include a valve body portion, a leg assembly portion, a sealing element, and an insert at least partially captured between the valve body portion and the leg assembly portion. The insert may be constructed from a carbide or a ceramic material, and, when the valve component is fully assembled, may be compressed between the valve body portion and the leg assembly portion. The insert may at least partially form the strike surface of the valve component. The valve body portion and the leg assembly portion may both be constructed from a metallic material, and the valve body portion may define a sealing seat. The sealing element may be constructed from an elastomeric material that may be pre-formed and then compression molded onto the seat of the valve body.

  • Patent number: 4561630
Abstract: A valve for sealing off pressurized fluid for an extended period comprises, a body defining a passageway, a closure member in said passageway for closing off the latter against fluid flow, a pivotally mounted arm for maintaining the closure member in its passageway closing off condition, and a catch for releasably retaining the arm in the valve closed position. In one arrangement, the closure member includes a diaphragm which extends across and divides the passageway and is arranged to burst under a sufficient pressure differential, the arm carrying a backing plate which, in its valve closed position is superimpositioned against one face of the diaphragm to prevent it from bursting.

  • Patent number: 4526055
Abstract: A lockable control lever arrangement in which a pivotally mounted control lever (10) is provided with linkages (12,13,16,17,18,19) for connecting the control lever with one or more functions to be controlled. A locking device (60) is provided for locking the lever in a given position. The locking device includes a first locking formation (23,24) operatively connected with each of the linkages, a locking member (20,21,22) having a second locking formation (21a,22a) engageable with the first locking formation to lock the control lever (10) in the given position, and a manually operable operating means (26,27,28,29) for moving the locking member to bring the first and second formations into engagement to lock the control lever. The control lever arrangement is particularly applicable to the operation of hydraulic valves which control the loaders and diggers of industrial tractors.

  • Patent number: 4404819
Abstract: A cryogenic dewar includes openings at the top and bottom of the cryogenic fluid container. A valve is provided at the bottom of the container to control the flow of cryogenic fluid into and out of the container. The valve includes a valve body forming at least one passageway from the container to the opening at the container bottom and a valve seat therebetween. A valve closure is provided to engage and seal the valve seat. A rod, having the valve closure at its lower end, is supported by the body within the cryogenic fluid container and extends upwardly to adjacent the opening at the top of the container. A valve actuator for said rod is carried in an upper opening and is adapted to engage the rod at its upper end, to operate said valve closure, and to be removable from the upper opening.

  • Patent number: 4394873
Abstract: A fluid valve controls the delivery of fluid through a passageway by employing a novel valve construction in which a channel within the passageway is adjusted both in size and configuration. A resilient, flexible valve element defines the channel, and the valve element may be adjustably and incrementally compressed to obtain a gradual restriction in the passageway. By adjusting the size of the channel the rate of fluid flow may be controlled. The fluid valve may be used, for example, to control the amount of dampening fluid supplied to the ink roll or offset plate on the plate cylinder of an offset printing press, and will find application in any fluid delivery system where precise control of fluid flow is crucial.

  • Patent number: 4301834
Abstract: An adjusting mechanism (92) is provided between a valve spool (62) and a valve actuating lever (26) whereby with the lever (26) locked in a selected position, the mechanism (92) is manipulated to move an element (99) carried by the valve spool (62) into alignment with an indicator (110) that has been predetermined to be the selected setting of the valve. With the element (99) aligned with the indicator (110), the mechanism (92) is locked so that the valve spool (62) is in the selected setting when the lever (26) is in the selected position. A lockdown apparatus (70) is provided for use in locking the lever (26) in the selected position while the adjusting mechanism (92) is being manipulated.

  • Patent number: 4007855
Abstract: A liquid metering dispenser is actuated by a trigger. The trigger releases a valve rod which is spring actuated to close a fluid pressure inlet, opening the discharge outlet of the dispenser to release a stored measured charge of liquid by operation of a spring actuated piston. The trigger is cocked by drawing the valve rod to close the discharge valve and open the liquid pressure inlet; the liquid under pressure enters the storage chamber, compressing the piston spring until it strikes an adjustable stop. The piston and spring assembly is readily removable for cleaning and servicing.
