  • Patent number: 8231030
Abstract: A beverage dispenser has a container for beverage fluid that has a flat bottom that is above a space large enough to place a glass or cup. The container has a sidewall and a top edge of an open container that has a removable lid. A pair of actuator guards are on either side of a space near but below the top edge of the container where an actuator is located that projects through a notch in the top edge, plunging downwardly inside the inner wall of the container sidewall and jutting straight out to form a fork. This fork selectively holds a plunger that has a long shaft and plug that fits into a hole in the bottom wall of the container. This hole and plug form a valve. The valve can be opened when the actuator is depressed between the actuator guards towards the container's sidewall, which pivots the fork upwardly which in turn lifts the plunger and plug to open the valve for dispensation.

  • Patent number: 5117514
Abstract: An improved toilet flapper valve (10) designed to directly replace either a conventional toilet flapper valve or tank ball valve. The valve (10) allows a toilet user to selectively determine the quantity of water used for a toilet flush by controlling the time that a toilet flush handle (38) is held in the depressed position. The water quantity used depends on whether liquid or solid waste is to be flushed. For liquid waste, a partial flush is used; for solid waste a full flush is recommended. The valve (10) consists of a resilient body having a cavity (12) located over the toilet tank drain (34). The cavity houses a weight (16) that fulfills two functions: it provides the weight necessary to make the valve non-buoyant and it produces under the area of the weight, a flat rigid section (18) that extends radially over and beyond the perimeter of the valve seat (36). This rigid section provides a positive seal without sagging which can produce unnoticed leaks.

Abstract: A dirty gas inlet arrangement for a filter housing including an inlet housing connecting an elongated outlet in a dirty gas supply manifold to the dirty gas chamber of the filter housing. The inlet housing is provided with a downwardly sloping bottom wall causing particulate materials separating from the dirty gases to flow into the dirty gas chamber, and a damper assembly for selectively closing off the elongated outlet in the manifold to prevent dirty gases from flowing into the dirty gas chamber. The damper assembly includes a shaft rotatably supported within the inlet housing, a lever arm cantilevered from the shaft, an elongated damper blade sized to underlie the marginal edge of the outlet pivotally secured to the free end of the lever arm, and an actuating assembly for selectively rotating the shaft to lift the blade into sealing engagement with the marginal edge of the outlet and to lower the blade into an inobtrusive position adjacent to the bottom wall.

  • Patent number: 4382725
Abstract: A pneumatic outlet is provided including a rotatable control valve having a body portion and a moment portion extending therefrom. The moment portion and the body portion each include edge portions which in closed position engage adjacent valve seats. The moment portion is provided with a pattern of openings for metering flow of lading into the discharge tube and is arranged to reduce or eliminate pellets from becoming trapped in the valve opening. Preferably the pattern includes alternate tapered projections and recesses. The tapered projections are arranged to guide pellets away from the valve opening. In addition, the projections preferably include sharp edges which will shear any pellets which are trapped in the recess, thus avoiding jamming the control valve. Preferably also the body portion edge includes a similar pattern.

  • Patent number: 4354665
Abstract: A valve for opening and closing a fluid conduit of the type having a generally wide cross-section, the conduit having a transverse slit therein to allow for movement of a shut-off member into and out of registration therewith. The shut-off member has a spherical shape and cooperates with an apertured member which defines a surface of the same sphere. Both the shut-off member and the apertured member may be arcuately displaced, about a common axis, to establish either a closed or opened conduit with leakage from the conduit in either the opened or closed position being prevented by peripheral portions of the shut-off member and apertured member.

  • Patent number: 4043705
Abstract: The invention provides a tool for closing off the jet nozzles of jet pumps located in an almost inaccessible location inside the shell of a boiling water reactor. The tool suspended on a cord is lowered down through a narrow gap extending down along the major part of the shell of the reactor, a distance of approximately 30 feet. The tool is lowered onto a stationary projection--namely, a lug or ear--which provides a gauge point for height and lateral position and an anchorage for torque in a horizontal plane. With these two controls for the tool of the invention, a closure for the jet nozzle may be applied to each of the jet nozzles to close them off against outflow of the water contained in the shell of the reactor thereby avoiding the bleak alternative of taking the reactor completely out of service, which includes removing the fuel bundles and draining the shell.
