    Abstract: Provided is a mobile fluid pumping system which may include a reservoir and, a pump actuated by a reversible motor. In the first configuration, the reversible motor is operated in a first direction causing a fluid to flow in a first direction and operated in a second direction causing fluid to flow in a second direction thereby providing means to fill a reservoir and then transfer fluid from the reservoir to a vessel or tank. The fluid delivery device provides means to substantially evacuate fluid from any connectors in the system thereby avoiding problems otherwise associated with remaining fluid that may freeze. Further, the device is designed to provide a closed load and unload system meeting ISO 022241.

To determine the drive type, a constant flow of pneumatic fluid is applied to the actuator during commissioning while a drive-specific characteristic curve of the fed back position is recorded over time. Then the measured characteristic curve is compared with a given specimen characteristic curve. The drive type is inferred from the level of difference or agreement between the drive-specific characteristic curve and the specimen characteristic curve.

    Abstract: The piston rod of a longitudinal feed cylinder of a tracer controlled lathe is connected with the lathe carriage by means of an operative connection consisting of another hydraulic cylinder or a cam arrangement which permits the rod of the feed cylinder to continue movement in the feed direction while maintaining the carriage in a fixed position. This permits the cutting tool mounted on the cross slide to machine a sharp shoulder on the workpiece perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the lathe spindle. The circuit includes a tracer valve that is variably restricted in accordance with movement of a stylus following a contoured template. The tracer valve is conneted to a feed line from a high pressure pump which extends directly or indirectly to one side of a hydraulic cylinder for displacing the cross slide in the carriage. The opposite side of the cross slide cylinder is connected to a low pressure pump.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling the profile of an aperture cut by a cutting head capable of traversing movement in two directions at right angles to each other, e.g. the cutting head of a mining machine, wherein means is provided to control the movement of the cutting head in said two directions and including a template for an internal profile representing that part of the aperture to be cut, a sensing device engageable with the template profile, follower means associated with the cutting head to cause relative movement between the sensing device and template in a direction related to movement of the cutting tool, movement of the sensing device into engagement with the profile operating hydraulic sensing equipment which automatically overrides the means to control the movement of the cutting head, thereby preventing the cutting head from moving beyond the desired tunnel profile.

    Abstract: A pneumatic fail-safe sensor system including a probe adapted to monitor the outline of a master pattern as the directed cutter spindle system of an N/C machine tool forms a part is disclosed. When the probe impinges on the master pattern to indicate that the cutter is deviating from the desired path of travel, a valve is opened and causes a pressure drop that actuates a pressure switch. The valve includes a pressurized dome that presses a valve plate against a valve seat. A valve stem is attached to the valve plate and supports the probe. Movement of the probe disturbs the static pressure of an annular chamber contained wholly within the valve seat area and, thereby, creates the pressure drop that activates the pressure switch. Activation of the pressure switch causes an electronic circuit to energize the control system of the N/C machine tool that terminates its operation by deenergizing the blocking valves.
