Abstract: A liquid or fluid-flow control valve of four-part construction is shown having a longitudinally extending, open-end housing within which a plug-like stationary seating part is centrally positioned to direct fluid flow between end and side-positioned inlet and outlet portions of the housing and as controlled by a rotatable stem part having a sleeve portion that is positioned concentrically about the seating part. The stem part projects through one end of the housing and has a side port that is moved into and out of alignment with a side port in the seating part. The seating part is provided with an obliquely-positioned ringlike sealing gasket, and the stem and the seating parts are removably mounted within the housing part by an end-positioned cooperating bonnet part.
Abstract: This invention describes an improved plug type sphere launching and receiving device for pipeline. It involves a housing with a longitudinal passage for the spheres. There is a cylindrical boring perpendicular to the longitudinal channel and a cylindrical plug is inserted into this boring. There is a channel through the plug coaxial with the main channel of the housing and there is a bored opening along the axis of the plug so that a sphere can be inserted into the line from the bottom end of the plug. The housing has a downward extension in line with this opening in the plug so that spaces provided for one or more spheres to be received as they travel down the pipeline to the housing and into the plug. The bottom end of this extension is closed with a screw type sealed closure. Means are provided in the housing surrounding the central passage to seal tightly against the surface of the plug. The plug itself is not exactly cylindrical.
Abstract: Fluid flow control valves such as plug valves or cocks have the plugs thereof supported and sealed in the valve housing by a rigid but somewhat elastic plastics bearing member which is preloaded and compressed from its free state condition and seeks to reclaim this condition for taking up wear and preventing leakage in the valve assembly. The bearing member is preferably stretched over the plug and compressed in the housing by a retainer which is pressed into one end of the housing.
Abstract: A self closing safety gate valve controls the flow of heavy, viscous fluids such as machine oil, rubber cement, lacquer, or the like. The valve housing contains a rotor with a spring biased thrust exerted laterally against the rotor, to hold it--in normal position--against the housing wall with a metal-to-metal seal at the output orifice. When the rotor turns, a pair of large output orifice openings, in the housing and rotor, are aligned--in off-normal position--in order to enable the out flow of fluid. A spring biased handle automatically returns the rotor from the off-normal to the normal position, where the thrust again presses the rotor body against the large output orifice opening in the housing.
