  • Patent number: 8534361
Abstract: A downhole valve that operates on turning of a member having a passage through it with a control system also features a passage from above an uphole seat for the member which communicates to the isolated passage within the member when the valve is closed. The passage features a check valve assembly that preferably has redundant sealing features and filters to prevent debris entry. Pressure applied from above the closed member gets through the check valve assembly to equalize the higher pressure below the ball with the pressure raised in the ball from pressure application at the surface. Removal of the applied pressure reseats the check valve or valves to allow the hydraulic system to rotate the member while the member is no longer subject to a high differential pressure.

  • Patent number: 7494075
Abstract: A pressure regulating valve reduces the increased internal pressure in an aerosol spray can, filled with compressed gas, to a working pressure level for a spray valve (12). A regulating piston (52) is kept in equilibrium by a restoring force, and a sealing point (66, 68) is provided, which is closed at a pressure in the pressure regulation chamber (84) that is above the regulated pressure level. To prevent the precision of regulation from being adulterated by the decreasing internal pressure of the can as its contents are progressively withdrawn, a sealing means (86, 66; 67) is proposed, which seals off one free end of the piston (52, 74) from the internal pressure of the can and the regulated pressure. The variable internal pressure of the can is therefore no longer able to act on any axial face of the piston (52), and despite what may be a smaller piston face area, the precision of regulation is improved.

Abstract: A hand-operated pressure regulating valve for compressed air guns includes a basic valve body with a nozzle passage, threads for connection to a compressed air gun and a nozzle body, a pressure regulating unit and an actuating ring. The regulating unit is held by the ring, with a securing ring, in a bore of the basic valve body. The nozzle passage can be bridged and closed within the bore by a nozzle passage piece. The cross section of the nozzle passage can be reduced and increased by rotation of the ring and displacement of the regulating unit and the passage piece. The regulating unit has a basic body with the passage piece, a spring pin and a compression spring and, in the installed state, the pin projects through the spring out of the basic body and the bore for radial movement transversely and, by rotation of the actuating ring, latches in succession into wells in an inner surface of the actuating ring.

Abstract: A fluid delivery valve for use in fluid conducting systems includes a rigid bracing member positioned within a hollow, flexible, resilient valve housing. By applying opposing lateral forces to the external surface of the housing near a widened portion of the bracing member, the valve housing deforms around the widened portion and the valve is actuated. Actuating the valve permits fluid communication between the inner chamber of the valve housing, and a channel which extends through an enlarged portion. The channels are sealed by the inner wall of the housing when the opposing forces are released. The fluid is thus selectively allowed to travel past the bracing member.

  • Patent number: 4069686
Abstract: A coupling for attachment to air conditioning systems to prevent leakage of refrigerant fluid during testing and servicing thereof. The coupling includes an elongated outer housing adapted to be attached at one end to an air conditioning system. The housing is provided with an axial bore in which is positioned an inner cylindrical body member having longitudinal ducts, which member is movable longitudinally with respect to the outer housing. One end of the inner body member is adapted to be selectively engaged with testing equipment or a refrigerant fluid supply. A portion of the inner housing is aligned with a valve of the air conditioning system which is actuated thereby upon longitudinal movement of the inner body member, thereby permitting refrigerant fluid to flow through the ducts in the inner body member from the refrigerant supply to the air conditioning system. Means carried by the inner body member facilitate longitudinal movement thereof.

  • Patent number: 4015336
Abstract: A specific embodiment provides a valve structure for an oral evacuator system adapted to be connected to a source of negative pressure. The valve structure includes an elongated housing having a longitudinal bore extending through the housing, a valve seat formed by a reduced diameter portion of the bore, and a slot extending through the housing to the bore and longitudinally of the housing. A valve member is situated in the bore for abutting engagement with the valve seat to prevent passage of flowable materials therebetween. A spring is provided for biasing the valve member into abutting engagement with the valve seat, and the spring includes an offset portion extending outwardly through the slot. A manually operable member is connected to the offset spring portion for moving the offset spring portion to compress the spring and thereby move the valve member out of engagement with the valve seat to permit passage of flowable materials therebetween.

  • Patent number: 3971541
Abstract: A valve having two body members and elastic means connected therebetween to normally bias the valve into the closed condition. The valve is opened by pulling one body member away from the other, and it closes automatically upon release. Biasing spring means is likewise provided to insure positive sealing.
