Abstract: A vacuum relief safety valve includes a housing defining an inner chamber and attached to the suction-side of the swimming pool or spa pump. An air inlet aperture is formed in the housing so as to be open to ambient air. A sealing element is disposed within the housing and biased against the air inlet aperture by a spring so as to effectively seal the inner chamber of the housing from ambient air. When a maximum allowed vacuum level within the pump is exceeded, such as when a swimming pool drain is obstructed, the sealing element moves into the inner chamber and opens the air inlet aperture causing the pump to rapidly lose its prime and enabling removal of the entrapment.

  • Patent number: 7472717
Abstract: A first valve port is set to have a seal diameter smaller than that of a second valve port. Due to a pressure reception area of a first valve body port being small, the attachment force of the first valve body portion is reduced with respect to a valve seat. It thus becomes possible to open the first valve port as the attachment of the first valve body portion is released with respect to the valve seat without increasing the weight of the float. After the first valve port is opened, the pressure difference is reduced between inside of a fuel tank and a connecting pipe on the side of a canister, and the attachment force acting on a second valve body portion is also reduced. In this manner, the second valve body portion is opened with certainty. As a result, it becomes possible to go through the operation of opening the second valve port that is larger in diameter than the first valve port without increasing the weight of a sub float.

  • Patent number: 7422193
Abstract: A solenoid valve is provided that includes an inlet, an outlet, a valve seat in the flow path between the inlet and the outlet, a stationary core, and a moveable member for moving between an open position and a closed position against the valve seat. A resilient dampening member is disposed between the moveable member and the stationary core, and is independent from both the stationary core and the moveable member. A spring biases the resilient dampening member against the stationary core and the moveable member away from the stationary core to a closed position. Upon energizing a solenoid with a direct current voltage, the moveable member moves from the closed position towards the stationary member to an open position against the resilient dampening member. The resilient dampening member dampens the impact between the moveable member and the stationary core to reduce the noise associated with energizing the solenoid.

The slow-descending device mentioned herein includes a piston, a piston slot and sealer, and the piston slot is placed on one side of the valve shaft base. Abstract: A piston system for a reciprocating compressor is adapted for high speed, high pressure unloading conditions by providing a dual stage piston assembly wherein the piston is adapted for absorbing and redistributing a portion of the load during the high pressure applications or high pressure portion of a cycle without reducing the efficiency of the system during normal loads. Pressure of up to 4000 psi can be handled without damage to the piston or other valve components. The valve plate is held in the closed position by a compression spring which is adapted to be engaged by a finger/driver upon reciprocation of the valve piston. The finger driver moves with the piston against the valve plate to open the valve on the plunger downstroke and move away from the valve on the plunger upstroke. A shock absorbing element is positioned in the plunger/finger assembly to absorb the shock of the driving downstroke, thereby reducing the shock of the finger against the valve plate.

The actuator assembly includes a main body having a bore, an armature, overmolded primary and secondary plates, a coil and a frame. The manifold includes a valve seat, a control port and a supply port. When the actuator is in a de-energized state, the armature is forced against the valve seat by a spring, sealing off the supply port from the control port. When the actuator is in an energized state, current flows through the coil, thereby generating a magnetic field. The magnetic field forces the armature to move toward the primary plate, causing the valve seat becomes unsealed. Once the valve seat is unsealed, fluid flow is permitted between the supply port and the control port. The one end of the armature has an endcap to minimize mechanical noise generated by movement of the armature against the spring. The frame surrounding the actuator assembly has flanges extending from both ends.

Abstract: A magnet valve according to the related art has a sealing and damping device with an elastic region on which, during operation, a force acts due to different existing pressures that must also be overcome when the armature plate is moved. A magnet valve (1) designed according to the invention has a sealing and damping device (46) with an elastic region (105) that is oriented and designed in relation to a seal seat (103) in such a fashion that the above-described force is offset. As a result, a better characteristic curve of the magnet valve (1) over the existing differential pressure is obtained.

Abstract: A gas pressure-reducing valve includes a pressure-reducing chamber for generating a gas pressure that acts on one surface of a diaphragm, a valve body that can sit on a valve seat having in its central part a valve hole communicating with the pressure-reducing chamber, and a spring biasing the diaphragm in a direction that detaches the valve body from the valve seat. A valve housing is formed by conjoining a body, a partition, and a cover. The partition forms the pressure-reducing chamber between itself and the body and forms a pressure action chamber between itself and the diaphragm. The cover forms the spring chamber between itself and the other surface of the diaphragm and has the peripheral edge of the diaphragm clamped between itself and the partition. The partition has a through hole for allowing the valve stem to run through in an airtight and axially slidable manner and a communicating hole for providing communication between the pressure action chamber and the pressure-reducing chamber.

Abstract: A fast-acting valve includes an annular valve seat that defines an annular valve orifice between the edges of the annular valve seat, an annular valve plug sized to cover the valve orifice when the valve is closed, and a valve-plug holder for moving the annular valve plug on and off the annular valve seat. The use of an annular orifice reduces the characteristic distance between the edges of the valve seat. Rather than this distance being equal to the diameter of the orifice, as it is for a conventional circular orifice, the characteristic distance equals the distance between the inner and outer radii (for a circular annulus). The reduced characteristic distance greatly reduces the gap required between the annular valve plug and the annular valve seat for the valve to be fully open, thereby greatly reducing the required stroke and corresponding speed and acceleration of the annular valve plug.

  • Patent number: 6595485
Abstract: A solenoid valve includes an outlet tube and a plunger stop. A plunger is slidably disposed within the solenoid valve between the outlet tube and the plunger stop. The plunger is movable between a closed position wherein the plunger engages the outlet tube to block fluid flow there through and an open position wherein the plunger is distanced from the outlet tube to permit fluid flow there through. The plunger includes a plunger insert that forms a dome-shaped plunger stop cushion that, during opening of the valve at least partially contacts a flat plunger contact face formed by the plunger stop. The dome-shaped plunger stop cushion relatively effectively damps the impact between the plunger and the plunger stop by allowing the plunger insert material, e.g., rubber, to compress more and absorb more energy of the impact. Thus, signal noise caused by the solenoid valve is minimized.

The restraint may include one of hydraulic and mechanical motion constraining devices. A hydraulic restraint device includes a hydraulic piston reciprocable within a fluid-filled reservoir having first and second chambers connected by a bypass passage and a flow tube. Fluid flow through the bypass passage and flow tube is regulated by the position of the piston relative to the bypass passage such that valve motion is slowed when fluid flow is restricted. A mechanical restraint device includes a pin and track assembly operative to develop rotational motion of the valve for slowing the valve motion.

Abstract: A valve insert comprises a bushing assembly, a piston assembly and a spring. Its design prevents non-longitudinal movement of the piston assembly as it is moved within the longitudinal bore of the bushing assembly. The design of the valve insert also avoids the pressure imbalances inherent to the prior art valve inserts. The valve insert is designed to fit snugly and sealingly within a suitable borehole, such as the fill and cut-out boreholes of an ECP manifold assembly.
