Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for providing shaped biodegradable and elastomeric structures of (co)polymers of 1,3trimethylene carbonate (TMC) with improved (mechanical) properties which can be used for tissue or tissue component support, generation or regeneration. Such shaped biodegradable elastomeric structures are obtainable by forming homopolymers and/or copolymers of 1,3-trimethylene carbonate (TMC) into a desired shape and irradiating said desired shape with actinic radiation in an inert atmosphere.

Abstract: The present invention relates to microemulsions of immiscible fluids stabilized by reactive ionic liquid surfactant wherein the ionic liquid surfactant has a melting point less than 80° C. The invention also relates to composite materials comprising a copolymer of ethylenically reactive species, wherein one of the species is a reactive ionic liquid surfactant having a melting point less than 80° C., and wherein the material also comprises non-reactive Class I fluid. The invention further relates to methods for synthesizing the composite materials comprising preparing a microemulsion of immiscible Class I fluid and Class II fluid stabilized by reactive ionic liquid surfactant wherein the ionic liquid surfactant has a melting point less than 80° C., and polymerizing the microemulsion to form a composite material.

Abstract: To provide a hydrogen-containing carbonaceous membrane having a novel property. For example, the hydrogen-containing carbonaceous membrane may be effectively prevented from delamination from a substrate. A hydrogen-containing carbonaceous membrane includes carbon and hydrogen. The membrane has a hydrogen content of more than 50 atomic percent and less than 65 atomic percent and a density of more than 1.3 g/cm3 and less than 1.5 g/cm3. Another hydrogen-containing carbonaceous membrane has a hydrogen content of more than 0 atomic percent and less than 50 atomic percent and a density of more than 1.4 g/cm3 and less than 1.9 g/cm3.
