Abstract: A dissolved oxygen releasing compound is disclosed utilizing magnesium peroxide blended with powdered Bentonite and/or vegetable oil. The Bentonite (or other clay material) reduces the hydraulic conductivity of magnesium peroxide, thereby reducing the rate of magnesium peroxide disassociation.

Abstract: Formation of solid-water detoxifying reagents for chemical and biological agents. Solutions of detoxifying reagent for chemical and biological agents are coated using small quantities of hydrophobic nanoparticles by vigorous agitation or by aerosolization of the solution in the presence of the hydrophobic nanoparticles to form a solid powder. For example, when hydrophobic fumed silica particles are shaken in the presence of IN oxone solution in approximately a 95:5-weight ratio, a dry powder results. The hydrophobic silica forms a porous coating of insoluble fine particles around the solution. Since the chemical or biological agent tends to be hydrophobic on contact with the weakly encapsulated detoxifying solution, the porous coating breaks down and the detoxifying reagent is delivered directly to the chemical or biological agent for maximum concentration at the point of need.

Abstract: (Co)poly-&agr;-hydroxyacrylic-acid-based polymers (P), optionally in lactonized form or in salt form, optionally as Mg-complexes, and which are characterized by a content in carbohydrate units and 2-hydroxy-2-carboxyethylene-1,2 monomer units, are suitable as biologically degradable, alkali-resistant stabilizers for peroxide bleaching agents.
Abstract: The pickling process of the present invention is designed for pickling electrical steel strip in a continuous fashion and comprises at least one pickling tank equipped with at least one set of sprayers designed to spray the top and bottom surfaces of a steel strip with a solution comprised of hydrogen peroxide prior to and/or after the strip is immersed in a solution contained in a pickling tank. The set(s) of sprayers in each of the pickling tanks are located above the level of the pickle bath solution, rather than being located in separate spray tanks. Upon exiting the final pickling tank, the strip is brushed/scrubbed to loosen any residual scale to form a clean strip.

Abstract: The present invention provides a granulated bleaching activator having a high solubility, that is, a granulated bleaching activator comprising (a) a bleaching activator and (b) at least one nonionic surfactant selected from the group consisting of a nonionic surfactant (b1) having a melting point less than 20° C. and an alkylene oxide addition type nonionic surfactant (b2) having a melting point less than 20° C., (b1) fulfilling the specific requirements concerning solubility, in a specific ratio.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a coated granular sodium percarbonate for detergent and its manufacturing process, and more particularly to a coated granular sodium percarbonate and its manufacturing process, wherein the surface of said sodium percarbonate establishes a multiple coating layer by being internally coated with a specific composition containing alkali metal silicate while externally coated with a specific composition containing alkali metal sulfate on upper part of said internally coated layer thus providing said sodium percarbonate an excellent dissolving rate in water as well as a good storage stability, preventing it from caking during delivery or storage, and being ultimately utilized as an effective detergent bleach containing zeolite as its detergent builder.

Abstract: Bleaching compositions are disclosed which comprise a fabric protective system capable of esterifying the hydroxyl groups of a fabric and a bleach. A method of treating fabrics with such a composition is also disclosed.
Abstract: Sodium percarbonate exhibits a tendency to decompose in built compositions and particularly detergent compositions built with zeolites. The tendency can be ameliorated by selecting sodium percarbonate which intrinsically has a mean particle size of from 500 to 1000 microns and not more than 20% by weight of below 350 microns and has a moisture pick-up when measured in a test at 80% relative humidity and 32° C. after 24 hours of not greater than 30 g/1000 g sample. A suitable sodium percarbonate can be made most conveniently by crystallisation from a bulk saturated solution of sodium percarbonate in a crystalliser/classifier that does not employ a conventional chloride salting-out agent.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of coated peroxygen compounds, in particular sodium percarbonate, by fluidized bed coating. By using a fluidized bed reactor with a radial inflow base, the passage openings of which allow the fluidized bed gas to emerge in the region of the opening at an angle of less than 35°, measured with respect to the horizontal, in the form of directed part streams, and in which are arranged spray nozzles, the pulse of which points in the same direction as the pulse of the fluidizing gas, it is possible to obtain products with an increased active oxygen stability. A circular reactor, the inflow base of which has lamellae overlapping like turbine blades and nozzles aligned in the direction of rotation of the fluidized bed is preferred.
