  • Patent number: 7033990
Abstract: The invention concerns a composition capable of indicating by color change when consumer articles, particularly volatile material dispensers, containing or associated with the composition have become inefficient in use. The composition includes: a) a volatile liquid component, b) a non-volatile component of an oxide or hydroxide of the metals of group III or IV of the periodic table and a polymer obtainable by the reaction, in the presence of the volatile liquid component, of a functionalized polymer with a cross-linking, and c) a dye capable of changing color as a function of the medium in which it is incorporated. Optionally, the composition can also contain an effective amount of an acidic compound. The invention also concerns the consumer article containing the composition, in particular a device aimed to diffuse a volatile or partially volatile liquid, more specifically an air freshener.

  • Patent number: 6994803
Abstract: The method according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention mitigates the problem of gold contamination during the SMT assembly operations in the manufacture of Hybrid Multi Chip Modules (HMCM), achieving a high assembly process yield. This target is accomplished by protecting, at the first process step, the gold with a thin layer (0.02–0.03 millimeter) of a paste very soluble in water and washing it off. The protective layer obtained with the above described method is very strong. Furthermore it is very easy to remove, since it is soluble in water.

  • Patent number: 6841085
Abstract: Methods for hydrogenolysis are described which use a Re-containing multimetallic catalyst for hydrogenolysis of both C—O and C—C bonds. Methods and compositions for reactions of hydrogen over a Re-containing catalyst with compositions containing a 6-carbon sugar, sugar alcohol, or glycerol are described. It has been surprisingly discovered that reaction with hydrogen over a Re-containing multimetallic catalyst resulted in superior conversion and selectivity to desired products such as propylene glycol.

  • Patent number: 6797191
Abstract: A method for reducing the drag on an aqueous solution in a pipe or hose system such as a snow making system includes the introduction of drag reducing polymers into the aqueous solution prior to circulating the solution in a pipe or hose. In a preferred embodiment, the drag reducing polymers are a mixture of polyethylene oxide in a carrier solution. The introduction of the polyethylene oxide in a carrier solution reduces the overall frictional drag and therefore increases the snow making efficiency by reducing the power needed to pump the water. As a result, it is easier for greater quantities of snow to be made using existing equipment due to the increased flow rate as a result of the lower drag friction. In a preferred embodiment, the polyethylene oxide is approximately 20-30% by weight and is introduced into the water pipe so resulting concentrations are approximately 30-100 weight parts per million (WPPM).
