Abstract: A method for producing pantyhose and other nylon or spandex hosiery with a long-lasting aloe finish is provided. A first step of the method is to place the pantyhose in a dye tub with a quantity of dye mix and ammonia sulfate. The contents of the dye tub are then heated until the pores in the nylon fibers of the pantyhose open and accept the dye molecules. A color fix is then added to the dye tub along with an acid substitute for creating a strong bond between the dye molecules and the nylon fibers. A softening mix containing a cationic nylon softener and a diluted silicone softener is then applied to the pantyhose. Lastly, an aloe finish containing a silicone micro-emulsion is added to the dye tub followed by another quantity of acid substitute for creating a strong bond between the aloe finish and the nylon fibers of the pantyhose.

Abstract: The present invention discloses the use of organosilanes as a semi-permanent surface treatment for fabrics, textiles, and other materials. The present invention discloses a composition for this treatment comprising an organosilane, a catalyst, water, and a solvent. The present invention further discloses methods for improving water repellency and for providing other enhanced benefits to a substrate wherein the methods include contacting the substrate with a solution of water and a silane-based composition, removing excess solution from the substrate, and drying the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20090045372
Abstract: A finishing composition is described for deposition by dot-on-demand inkjet technique onto a textile substrate. The composition comprising a dispersion or emulsion of a functional finishing agent in a vehicle, wherein the size of particles in the dispersion or emulsion of the finishing composition is less than about 2 microns. By ensuring sufficient fineness of the particles, effective and reliable droplet deposition may proceed without clogging. Of significance, the composition should not be subject to flocculation or sedimentation during use.
