  • Patent number: 11248739
Abstract: An apparatus for lifting or supporting an item in an elevated condition includes a telescoping post assembly having an inner tube section which provides one end section of the post assembly and an outer tube section which defines an opposite end section of the post assembly. In addition, a gas spring is mounted within the post assembly for acting between the inner and outer tube sections, and a manually-operable lever member is associated with the gas spring and is cooperable with a fulcrum member to effect the movement of the two opposite end sections of the post assembly away from one another so that by positioning the telescoping post assembly between the support surface and the item to be lifted and then moving the actuator mechanism between two conditions effects the lifting of the item from the support surface.

  • Patent number: 11142920
Abstract: A wall brace system for providing an apparatus for supporting a wall in a building structure, which has been moved inward by pressure from the earth outside in order to return the wall to a desired position. The wall brace system has a structural member, a retainer, a mounting assembly, a load member, a jack, and/or a locking member. A jack and/or locking member are operatively coupled between the structural member and the mounting assembly. The jack functions to exert a force against the structural member, directly or through the load member, in order to force the structural member toward the wall for shifting the wall (e.g., outwardly). The locking member functions to lock the structural member in place with respect to the mounting assembly after the jack positions the structural member. Thereafter, the jack is removed from the mounting assembly.

  • Patent number: 10052210
Abstract: Dimensionally adjustable spinal prostheses are adjustable in an axial or superior to inferior dimension such that spinal prostheses may assume variations in height. The height adjustable spinal prostheses are characterized by first and second portions that are configured for adjustable coupling with one another. Spatial adjustment between the first and second portions is provided by an adjustment assembly. The adjustment mechanism preferably, but not necessarily, provides infinite adjustment over a minimum prosthesis height to a maximum prosthesis height. In one form, first and second ends of the height adjustable spinal prostheses are configured to receive an endplate. The endplates aid in attachment and/or anchoring of the spinal prosthesis within the spine. The endplates may be fashioned in various configurations such as circular or anatomical. In one form, the adjustment assembly utilizes rotational motion for varying the axial position of one prosthetic portion relative to the other prosthetic portion.

  • Patent number: 8500095
Abstract: The electric floor jack device provides the advantages of a typical floor jack, and more still. The device includes a frame with wheels and casters, like a typical floor jack and also lift arms and lift lever, with pivot, also like a typical floor jack, including lift block and lift pad. The handle offers an advantage not enjoyed by floor jacks known. Further advantages provided by the device include screw shaft lift of the lift arms. The screw shaft lift of the lift arms enables the use of the electric motor. Further, as opposed to the pumped vertical lift, and difficult-to-control lowering typical of most floor jacks, the screw lift provides smooth, predictable operation, whether up or down. Further, the existing removable battery pack is like many used with other currently marketed tools, and provides recharging and interchangeability advantages enjoyed by many other tools.

  • Patent number: 6000681
Abstract: A saddle structure for a jack device is provided with a rotatable saddle mounted to the fixed saddle of an extension member of a jack device. The rotatable saddle is retained, at least partially, within the fixed saddle for structural reinforcement. The Rotatable saddle provides an interface between the extension member of the jack device and the object to be lifted. The rotatable saddle is freely rotatable about a central axis of the extension member to allow the jack device to be independently oriented with respect to the object to be lifted. The fixed saddle structurally supports the rotatable saddle and is rigidly fixed to the extension member. Such an arrangement provides an adjustable interface between the jack device and the object to be lifted while maintaining the structural integrity of the interface.

  • Patent number: 5943919
Abstract: A linear ball screw actuator assembly and a method of constructing it. The actuator assembly has a housing for a ball screw and ball nut which together define a raceway between them for a recirculating ball bearing train of balls, one of the screw and nut being reciprocable along a z axis responsive to rotation of the other and being adapted to be coupled to a member to be actuated. The housing has gearing for transmitting rotation to the other of the ball and screw nut in a direction lateral to the z axis. A base for the housing is spaced from the housing and has a base journal journaling the first pin extending along a first pin axis laterally perpendicular to the z axis. The housing has a housing journal journaling a second pin extending crosswisely perpendicular to the first pin. The second pin axis intersects the z axis and x axis. The pins are coupled in a manner to permit relative rotation of the base and housing about either pin axis, or both, to obviate misalignment problems.

  • Patent number: 5664762
Abstract: A screw jack (20) includes a stand (21) which houses a side gear (58) which, when rotated, turns a bottom gear assembly (67). An inner screw (73) is connected to the bottom gear assembly (67) and thus turns therewith. Because of an interaction with an outer screw (77), rotation of the inner screw (73) initially causes a tube assembly (24) to move axially relative to a hexagonally shaped sleeve (23). A hex nut (81) is attached to the lower end of the tube assembly (24) to prevent rotation of the tube assembly (24). The nut (81) threadably engages the outer screw (77) and at one stage during the use of the jack (20), the nut (81) also engages a shoulder (82) of the sleeve (23) so that upon continued rotation of the screw (73), the tube assembly (24) and sleeve (23) move axially together. A load bearing assembly (25) is carried at the top of the tube assembly (24) and is adapted to be positioned under the frame or other component of a vehicle to be lifted.
