Worm And Worm Wheel Patents (Class 254/220)
  • Patent number: 9352697
Abstract: A clamp for clamping an article to an anchor member, the clamp comprising at least one connecting member for positioning the clamp to an article, and tightening means for tightening the connecting member and thereby cause the clamp to clamp the article to an anchor member, and the clamp being such that it is portable, the connecting member is a flexible connecting member, the connecting member is extendable being pushed from and retractable into a housing, the continuous tightening and releasing means comprises operating parts which are housed in the housing, the tightening and releasing means being such that it is connected to a rod and in use is arranged to move traveling to and fro along the housing. The tightening means is so arranged to act upon the housings body absorbing and holding fast the clamping forces involved that otherwise often transfer there movement from the tightening means in other devices.

  • Publication number: 20140061556
Abstract: A strap tensioning system is provided. The system includes a frame comprising a first side wall that retains a ledge. A core shaft retains a flexible shaft and is rotatable by a drive shaft as urged by a crank handle. The crank handle supports an arm that is pivotable with respect to the crank handle, between a stowed position where the arm is substantially parallel to the crank handle, and a locking position where the arm is substantially perpendicular to the crank handle. The crank handle and arm are configured such that the arm disposed within the ledge when the crank handle is in registry with the ledge and the arm is in the locked position, thereby preventing rotation of the crank handle with respect to the frame.

  • Patent number: 7216849
Abstract: A winch (1), a vehicle including the same and a method of operating associated thereto. The winch (1) is used with a strap (15) for fastening a load onto a transportation vehicle, and comprises a tightening assembly (3) and a gear assembly (5). The tightening assembly (3) comprises a support structure having first and second support flanges (7, 9) and a cross member (11) extending between the flanges (7, 9). The cross member (11) is devised for mounting onto a corresponding side track of the vehicle. The tightening assembly (3) also comprises a tightening reel (13) for receiving a portion of the strap (15) to be tightened about said reel (13), the tightening reel (13) being pivotally mounted onto the first and second support flanges (7,9). The gear assembly (5) is operatively connected to the tightening assembly (3), and comprises a gear (17), a worm (19), and a casing (21). The gear (17) is securely mounted about the tightening reel (13) so as to rotate with said reel (13).

  • Patent number: 5388480
Abstract: A pretensioning mechanism for tension element drives includes a drive pinion including a pinion shaft and a pinion sleeve; a first tension element end anchor on the pinion shaft for securing one end of a tension element wound around the drive pinion in a first direction and a second tension element end anchor on the pinion sleeve for securing the end of another tension element wound around the drive pinion in a second, opposite direction; and a worm drive including a worm gear on one of the pinion sleeve and pinion shaft and a worm on the other of the pinion sleeve and pinion shaft for relatively counter-rotating said pinion shaft and pinion sleeve for simultaneously in a single action adjusting and fixing the pretension on the tension element.

  • Patent number: 5295664
Abstract: Electromotor driven tensioning and winding device for lashing straps (7) in integral construction, preferably including a tactile three-point measurement sensor (2) in direct contact with a flat side (40) of the lashing strap (7). For this purpose, the measurement sensor (2) includes a sensor bar (30) which is mounted against a compression spring element (31) and has a contact pin (34) which is movable together with the sensor bar (30) and can be pressed against a contact plate (37) fastened to the rear wall (32) of the measurement sensor housing (27).If the desired tension of the lashing strap is reached, the contact pin (34) lies against the contact plate (37). If the contact between the contact plate (37) and the contact pin (34) is interrupted, the drive motor (3) receives a signal to tighten the lashing strap (7) by further winding it onto the wind-up spindle (6). The desired lashing tension of the lashing strap (7) is thus regulated continuously.
