  • Patent number: 10618771
Abstract: A strap may be removably attachable to a container. The strap may include a retractor having an opening, a retraction spring and a brake. The strap may further include a strip of flexible material attached to the retraction spring and extending through the opening of the retractor. The strap may also include clips attaching the retractor and distal end of the flexible material to the container. The strip of flexible material may move from a fully retracted position, where the distal end of the strip of flexible material is nearest the retractor, relative to the entire length of the strip of flexible material, to an extended position where the distal end of the strip of flexible material is furthest from the retractor. The retraction spring may bias the strip of flexible material into/toward the fully retracted position.

  • Patent number: 8210502
Abstract: A wireline hay pulley has a support with front and back plates extending therefrom. A sheave disposed between the plates can rotate on an axle. The front plate is affixed to the support, while the back plate is removably connected to the support. The front plate has a round opening in which an eccentric bushing on the axle can rotate. When the back plate is disconnected from the support, the back plate can turn the axle fixed in a slotted opening. An eccentric bushing on the axle rotates in an opening of the front plate, thereby shifting the sheave away from the support. With the back plate moved away and the sheave shifted downward, an operator can readily rig up a wireline in the sheave's slot.

  • Patent number: 7467783
Abstract: A system and method for tensioning a cable. A thimble is placed over an eccentric member having a splined bore. A portion of an endless cable is placed over the thimble. The eccentric member and thimble are placed between a pair of parallel, spaced apart arms of a mounting structure. A splined shaft is inserted through holes in the arms and into the splined bore of the eccentric member to secure the eccentric member to the mounting structure. A threaded nut is placed on a threaded end of the splined shaft. The cable is tensioned by rotating a head portion of the splined shaft 180 degrees, or by a different predetermined value, which places the cable under a predetermined tension. A retaining screw is inserted through one of the mounting structure arms and into a threaded hole in the eccentric member. The system enables a precise degree of tension to be quickly and easily applied to a cable with no risk of accidentally over-tensioning the cable.

  • Patent number: 6305669
Abstract: A bearing block has a head, a central hub, bearing means facilitating rotation of the sheave about the central hub. The block further has locking means for removably locking a length of high strength, fibrous material, such as cord, to the block for tethering the block to a boat deck or the like. The locking means may be a part of the block head, cheeks, or may be located at the block central hub. Preferred locking means are a plurality of passages for the cord ends to pass through, with set screws in two of the passages for removably holding the cord ends therein. A center portion of the cord length thus forms a loop for tethering the block.

  • Patent number: 4390163
Abstract: A marine block employs a sheave which is rotatively mounted on an axle supported between a pair of spaced-apart cheek plates. One or more ball bearing units are provided between the axle and the sheave, each unit containing a circular array of ball bearings which engage in circular races which are disposed radially outward from the axis of the axle. Relatively large ports are formed in the cheek plates which are located directly opposite the bearing units whereby a water stream directed through the ports at one side of the block can penetrate around and between the exposed ball bearings and their races and scrub those surfaces free of dirt and film. In a preferred block embodiment, clearance spaces exist radially inboard of the sheave between the bearing units and between the sheave and the cheek plates so that water can travel directly through the block and between the sheave and the cheek plates to further facilitate cleaning the block.
