Braced Patents (Class 256/64)
  • Patent number: 4231676
Abstract: A Type I Traffic Barricade is described having a reflective panel mounted between a pair of leg supports. Each leg support has two legs pivotally secured together at an upper end and in a spaced relationship by a pair of brackets on opposing sides of the leg support. The brackets are placed into slots formed on an underside of the reflective panel and, with the legs spread for the widest possible stance at their lower end, the upper end is biased against the reflective panel for complete and stable vertical and lateral support, while allowing easy set-up and knock down with minimum space requirements for storage.

  • Patent number: 4183317
Abstract: The versatile all purpose barricade structures of this invention include a portable road sign unit which utilizes a triangular brace member or support bracket and collapsible legs with ring means for locking them in place. Hollow legs are utilized in connection with plugs which enable the legs to be repaired on the job when necessary. The legs may also be internally loaded so that the use of sand bags and the like is unnecessary. The structures include a tape unit which may be quickly and conveniently put in operating position. The structures also include a slidable barricade panel which may be used in connection with separate leg units. The support bracket and associated leg units may be a separate item which slidably receives a barricade panel of any length, or the bracket and legs may be permanently affixed to a barricade panel. The barricade panel may also be stood on end to serve as an upright, elongated light or flag holder.

  • Patent number: 4104980
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a collapsible road barrier which includes at least one horizontal reflective member which is attached to the upper portion of four supporting legs. The four supporting legs are positioned in pairs with the upper portion thereof hinged together and the lower portion thereof spaced from each other so as to provide support for the horizontal reflective member. The collapsible road barrier also includes a universally collapsible bunk positioned adjacent the lower ends of the supporting legs. The universally collapsible bunk is generally rectangular in shape with each of the four corners of the bunk being attached to one of the supporting legs to provide a surface upon which material such as ballast may be positioned. The collapsible road barrier is readily folded to provide for convenient storage.

  • Patent number: 3950873
Abstract: Hollow molded plastic support member for use in forming a variety of traffic warning devices has an inverted Y-shape which forms a pair of spaced angled legs and a vertical post portion. The post portion includes a pair of vertically elongated, spaced apertures defined by integral plastic connecting walls which space the opposed planar side portions of the support member from each other. An opening in the post portion permits ballast to be loaded into the hollow interior of the legs. A single support member can be used in combination with a vertical member having portions which snap fit with the apertures to form a three-legged sign or light support. Pairs of support members can be used with a variety of disclosed cross bar arrangements to form barricades and warning signs. The snapfit design of several of the disclosed warning devices permits the devices to come apart when hit by a vehicle without causing damage to either the vehicle or the warning device.
