Abstract: A method of formation of a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) resonator or filter which is compatible with integration with any analog, digital, or mixed-signal integrated circuit (IC) process, after or concurrently with the formation of the metal interconnect layers in those processes, by virtue of its materials of composition, processing steps, and temperature of fabrication is presented. The MEMS resonator or filter incorporates a lower metal level, which forms the electrodes of the MEMS resonator or filter, that may be shared with any or none of the existing metal interconnect levels on the IC. It further incorporates a resonating member that is comprised of at least one metal layer for electrical connection and electrostatic actuation, and at least one dielectric layer for structural purposes. The gap between the electrodes and the resonating member is created by the deposition and subsequent removal of a sacrificial layer comprised of a carbon-based material.

  • Patent number: 7893453
Abstract: A semiconductor light-emitting device and a method for manufacturing the same can include a soft silicon resin encapsulating an LED chip with a thin overcoat of microparticles located on the silicon resin to prevent dirt and dust from attaching to the silicon resin. The semiconductor light-emitting device can include a base board having at least one LED chip, a reflector fixed on the base board so as to enclose the LED chip, a soft silicon resin having a tacky surface disposed in the reflector, and an overcoat of microparticles on the silicon resin. Thus, manufacturing lead time can be reduced because the microparticles can attach to the silicon resin in a thin and single layer and a solidifying process for an extra layer on top of the silicon resin is not necessary. The overcoat of microparticles can prevent dirt and dust from attaching to the silicon resin, and can decrease optical variability in an inclined direction from an optical axis of the device.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a capacitor of a semiconductor device by using a composition to prevent leaning of a capacitor. The method includes forming a barrier film and a capacitor oxide film over a semiconductor substrate including an interlayer insulation film with contact plugs for storage nodes; etching the capacitor oxide film and the barrier film until the contact plugs are exposed to form trenches for capacitors; forming lower electrodes for the storage nodes in the trenches; coating the composition over the lower electrodes and baking the composition to form a polymer layer connecting the upper portions of the lower electrodes; performing the wet-dip out process on the resulting structure to remove the capacitor oxide film; and performing an O2 dry etching process to remove the polymer layer.

Abstract: A biomolecular array includes a substrate across which is distributed an array of discrete regions of a porous substance formed from a porogen-containing organosilicate material. The porous substance is designed to bind chemical targets useful in biotechnology applications, such as gene expression, protein, antibody, and antigen experiments. The regions are preferably optically isolated from each other and may be shaped to enhance detection of optical radiation emanating from the porous substance, e.g., as a result of irradiation of the regions with ultraviolet light. The discrete regions may be configured as microscopic wells within the substrate, or they may reside on top of the substrate in the form of microscopic mesas.

Abstract: Improved encapsulated, overmolded and/or underfilled electrical components having a complete encapsulation, overmolding and/or underfilling with a coefficient of thermal expansion that is uniform and substantially free of gradients includes a polymeric matrix and an inorganic filler having a platelet geometric structure. The platelet structure of the filler allows a desirable coefficient of thermal expansion to be achieved using a very low level of filler material. This low level of filler material facilitates lower viscosity during forming of the encapsulation and/or overmolding, thereby facilitating complete filling of a mold cavity and underfilling of space between a circuit board and a semi-conductor chip electrically connected to the circuit board. In addition, the low viscosity has processing advantages that reduce the potential for damage to electrical components during encapsulation, overmolding and/or underfilling.

Abstract: A hybrid semiconductor-ferromagnet device is a device which has micromagnets (Co) deposited on semiconductor (InAs) two-dimensional electrons, and which has a junction structure of positive and negative magnetic field regions using a stray field resulting from the micromagnets. The magnetoresistance measured in the hybrid semiconductor-ferromagnet device has an asymmetrical hall resistance profile, and a change in magnetoresistance thereof is very large. The measured data is well consistent with the calculated results using a diffusive mode and a ballistic model.
