  • Patent number: 9273637
Abstract: An adjustment safeguard for a set screw on a carburetor includes a cap held non-rotatably on the head of the set screw. The cap is surrounded by a coaxially positioned wall sleeve fixed to the housing. A rotation stop is fixed to the housing to limit the angle of rotation of the cap in the sleeve in the rotational direction of the set screw. A through-opening in the cap permits inserting a tool into an engagement opening in the head of the set screw to avoid destruction by introducing too much torque into the adjustment safeguard. The form and opening width of the through-opening is limited by the use of a metal material such that a tool larger than the adjustment tool is not able to be inserted through the through-opening into the head of the set screw. The engagement opening is flexible to limit a maximum allowable adjustment torque.

  • Patent number: 8453999
Abstract: A high-velocity water misting gun with a very high-speed radial inflow hydraulic turbine mounted on the same shaft with an axial flow air compressor wheel compressing air discharged at high velocities through an exhaust air nozzle. All of the water discharging from the hydraulic turbine wheel is channeled directly into a water misting nozzle providing a fine water mist discharging into a high-velocity air flow provided by the axial-flow compressor. Preferred embodiments utilize a manually operated ball valve to control water pressure supplied to the gun. A second valve is a manually operated turbine water bypass valve that is integral part of the preferred embodiment which allows for change of turbine power and air flow independently of water flow. With turbine water bypass valve open, most of the turbine flow is bypassed around the turbine and directly into the water misting nozzle, increasing the water flow and decreasing the air flow and air velocity.

  • Patent number: 7240896
Abstract: A carburetor fuel adjustment assembly includes a low speed needle valve and preferably a high speed needle valve threaded into respective receptacles of a carburetor body. Each receptacle defines an elongated cavity which intersects a fuel passage and has a valve orifice or seat. Each needle valve has a shank which threadably engages the respective receptacles and a tip that extends into the axially-aligned orifice or seat. The tip is axially movable relative to the orifice by rotation of the needle valve to control the size of the opening between the valve and orifice for fuel flow. A resilient body cooperates with the valve shank in laterally biasing the tip into a steadfast position relative to the orifice or seat. The lateral bias assures constant area for fuel flow through the orifice by resisting needle movement until a sufficient torque is intentionally applied to the needle valve.

A mixing passage provides a fuel-air mixture to one or more combustion chambers of an internal combustion engine. A main fuel supply passage provides fluid communication between a fuel source and the mixing passage through a main fuel nozzle. An idle fuel supply passage provides fluid communication between a fuel source and the mixing passage through an idle fuel nozzle. An idle fuel ratio control valve adjusts the proportion of fuel drawn into the mixing passage through the idle fuel supply passage to the flow rate of air drawn into the mixing passage. The idle fuel supply passage is in fluid communication with the main fuel nozzle. Vacuum pressure induced by flow rates across the main fuel nozzle, which exceed a predetermined flow rate, precludes idle fuel flow into the mixing passage.

Abstract: An apparatus for adjusting the air-fuel ratio of a fuel mixture to be supplied to an engine. The apparatus has a needle valve body and a receptacle formed in a main body of a carburetor which receives the needle valve body. The needle valve body has a needle and a head. The needle is axially movable relative to a needle orifice. The needle may be axially advanced and retracted by rotating the needle valve body within the receptacle to respectively decrease and increase the flow of the fuel mixture around the needle and through the orifice. To prevent tampering with the needle valve body setting, the head of the needle valve body has an unconventional shape requiring a specialized tool to rotatably adjust the needle valve body. To further prevent tampering, the head is recessed with the main body of the carburetor.
