Abstract: Using integrated multi-component assembly injection moulding, a two-part magnetic rotational angle sensor system having high sensing accuracy is very efficiently integrally produced in a tool as a functional unit that can be directly applied, comprising a polymer-bonded permanent magnet as a passive transmitter part in the first section, which can be rotated relative to the material of the active sensor receiver part, which material is sprayed thereon and then shrunk, with the potted receiver. For this purpose, injection moulding materials are used that are mutually incompatible for adhesion and lift off from one another over the mutual contact regions due to shrinkage.

Runners, through which a resin flows, are arranged parallel to cavities and the safety vent of the can is positioned closest to the gates, into which a resin is injected after the can and a protective circuit board are seated in the cavities. Due to the structure of the runners of the mold and the location of the safety vent of the can, the amount of resin used and the molding time are reduced. A fracture of the safety vent is avoided since a lower pressure occurs at the location closest to the gates during a resin filling process.

Abstract: A novel molded archery arrow (100) includes a cylindrical steel shaft (101) with sharpened tip, a plastic ferrule (102) molded over the shaft (101), and cutting blades (103) serving as fletchings. The shaft (101) has a front end with a sharpened tip and a rear end with a stem, the stem having a smaller diameter than the front end of the shaft. The front end of shaft (101) includes indented rings (116) and the stem includes protruding rings (117) that affix shaft (101) to plastic ferrule (102) during the molding process. Since the ferrule (102) of arrow (100) is plastic, arrow (100) slides with little or no friction when launched from metal barrel (206) of a crossbow (200). In the molding process for arrow (100), an open space (115) is created by a tapered pin inserted into an arrow mold opposite the rear end of the stem of shaft (101).

Abstract: A method of preparing a carbon nanotube/polymer composite material is provided. The method includes (a) providing a carbon nanotube-based film and a pre-polymer solution; (b) placing the carbon nanotube-based film at a bottom of a container, and pouring the pre-polymer solution in the container; and (c) polymerizing the pre-polymer solution and simultaneously integrating the pre-polymer solution with the carbon nanotube-based film. As such, a carbon nanotube/polymer composite material, including the polymer-impregnated nanotube layer and an upper polymer layer, is obtained. A multi-layer composite can be produced by essentially repeating this process, using the upper polymer layer as the base layer for the formation of the next layer set thereon.

  • Patent number: 7972549
Abstract: A process, and related structure, uses conventional pelletized compositions to form the elements of a non-textile fabric by coining a single pellet or briquette of a polymer into an individual element in a single forming step. The steps of the process generally include: a) positioning a pellet in or adjacent to a mold cavity, and b) forcing the pellet into contact with the mold surfaces of the mold cavity to plastically deform the pellet to the shape of the mold cavity. The forcing step preferably uses an energy and speed where the pellet superplastically deforms to substantially fill the mold cavity. This process is repeated with the elements being formed in the appropriate order to form a non-textile fabric. The elements thus formed can have a variety of shapes, and can form base units for the formation of the non-textile fabric of two, three or more elements.
