  • Patent number: 10626847
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a root section of a wind turbine blade includes assembling a mold having an inner cylinder segment, an outer cylinder segment, and a bottom flange, wherein a radial space is defined between the inner and outer cylinders. Root hub connectors are attached circumferentially around the bottom flange so that the root hub connectors extend axially into the radial space. A first cartridge of pultruded rods is loaded into the space, wherein the first cartridge includes a plurality of first pultruded rods arranged adjacent to the inner cylinder segment. The space is sealed, for example with a lid or top flange, and the space is evacuated. A resin is infused into the space so that the resin migrates through the radial space between the pultruded rods, and is then cured. The root section is then removed from the mold. The mold rings each include spaced segments that inter-digitate and will form equal spaced tread voids in a finished recapped tire. The bottom mold ring inner edge top includes a continuous sealing lug, and the top ring is open to pass a flow of polyurethane materials, that is received off of a lower edge of a cone shaped spreader positioned onto the tire carcass top side wall and slides, as a sheet, into the mold, filling the mold cavity from bottom to top, forcing air from the mold ahead of the fill and forming the recapped tire tread.

Abstract: The invention relates to heat treatment of polymorphic semicrystalline or crystallizable polymers to increase the content of the highest melting crystalline form. Such heat treatment results in a polymer powder that has a consistent, uniform melting range, improved flow and improved durability of the powder particle size for applications that require powder flow at elevated temperatures. In addition to improved powder properties, the articles produced from the powders also exhibit better physical properties in both appearance and in mechanical properties. Thus the invention also includes polymer powders and articles produced by the described processes.

Abstract: Methods, systems and apparatuses of ultra-miniature, ultra-compliant probe arrays that allows for design flexibility to match the stiffness of the tissue it is being applied to, such as the brain tissue, in all three axes (x, y and z), with interconnect cross section smaller than cell dimensions. Stiffness matching requires specific geometric and fabrication approaches, commonly leading to ultra-thin probe wires. Sizing of the electrodes for specific cell dimensions reduces glial formation. Further reduction in stiffness is obtained by incorporating different geometric features to the electrode, such as meandering the electrode wires. The small thickness and geometric features of the wires commonly result in very high compliance.

  • Patent number: 8435436
Abstract: A method for forming a tail fin of wind turbine includes first pouring a proper amount of molten plastic into a mold having a cavity showing a contour of the tail fin and the mold is rotated to induce a centrifugal force that makes the plastic uniformly sticking to an inside surface of the cavity to form a tail fin that shows an aerodynamic feature of a one-piece hollow shell. The tail fin, when mounted to the wind turbine, realizes efficient and stable control of rotor blades at a front end of the nacelle in alignment with windward direction so as to improve the use of wind power and make the tail fin and the rotor blades in a weight balanced condition to thereby reduce the load applied to a yaw bearing located under the nacelle and extend the service life of the bearing.
