  • Patent number: 7114946
Abstract: An injection mold includes a sliding member having a partial cavity surface which forms part of a cavity surface, and an adjacent member having a partial cavity surface which forms part of the cavity surface. A sliding surface of the sliding member is guided by a sliding surface of the adjacent member and is linearly movable by a relative sliding distance. A portion from the partial cavity surface to the sliding surface of at least one of the sliding member and adjacent member is continuously coated with a heat insulating coat, and a range over which the sliding surface is coated with the heat insulating coat is so set as to exceed an end of the relative sliding distance, where an edge of the partial cavity surface of the adjacent member contacts with the sliding surface of the sliding member.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for molding a sealing surface of revolution on a molded part in first and second partable mold halves that mate at a major parting line plane. First and second mold inserts each have a sub-insert trim wheel component shaped to mold form the sealing surface of revolution when closed at a minor parting line plane. The sub-inserts are rotatable between a position flush with the major parting line plane and a starting position angularly offset therefrom. The mold cavity is filled with liquid molding material that is allowed to harden to at least a self-sustaining solidification strength. The sub-inserts are then rotated to thereby move any minor parting line flash toward a position angularly offset from their starting position. This rotation causes any parting line flash that might otherwise remain on the sealing surface to be removed from attachment to, and/or smeared smooth along, such surface.

  • Patent number: 6294121
Abstract: A mold for compression molding a resin article, which mold consists of male and female molds, wherein, at the time of complete mold closing, the length L in a mold closing direction of a mated part formed between the outermost wall of said male mold and the innermost wall of said female mold satisfies the equation: (t1−t0+10)mm≧L≧(t1−t0)mm wherein t1 is a distance (mm) between the male and female molds when the resin melt first reaches the mating outermost edge of the male mold, and t0 is a distance (mm) in the mold closing direction between the same points on the male and female molds as those used for measuring t1 when the mold closing is complete, and the horizontal distance of a mating gap between the outermost wall surface of said male mold and the innermost wall surface of said female mold is from 0.02 to 0.1 mm, with which mold, squeeze-out of a resin melt during molding is prevented.

  • Patent number: 6192568
Abstract: A method is provided for making a combination hub and catheter. A material is molded in a mold into a body having at least a first hub, and at least a first nose extending from the first hub. The first nose is then elongated into a catheter by moving first and second components of the mold away from one another.

  • Patent number: 6186764
Abstract: The injection molding machine comprises the closing mechanism 5 having the nozzle touch member 3 to close the tip opening 1a of the nozzle 1 and the electric heater 6 to regulate the temperature of the nozzle touch member 3. The closing member 5 is constituted in such a manner as the arm 13 is pivotally supported on the jacket cover 11 mounted on the nozzle 1, the cylinder 7 is mounted on mounting member 14 provided at the tip of the arm 13, and the nozzle touch member 3 is supported at the tip of the piston rod 7a. The electric heater 6 is arranged around the nozzle touch member 3. When the arm 13 is rotated from the retreated position R to the closed position C by the actuation of the rotor 8, the nozzle touch member 3 is faced to the tip opening 1a of the nozzle 1, and by extending the cylinder 7, the nozzle touch member 3 regulated to the temperature suitable for the resin material by the electric heater 6 closes the tip opening 1a from its front surface.
