Abstract: A seat trim cover for an automotive seat is formed into a 3-dimensional shape by compression molding a laminated moldable foam in a 3-dimensional. The laminated moldable foam comprises at least a layer of cellular polyurethane foam compression moldable in a temperature range of about 220° F. to about 260° F. The 3-dimensional mold is heated to a temperature range of about 150° F. to about 320° F. The layer of cellular foam is adhered to a cover material layer and pre-cut into a pre-laminated blank prior to molding into the 3-dimensional shape. Optionally, seat heaters or other components can be integrated with the laminated foam prior to compression molding the seat trim cover.

  • Patent number: 11840052
Abstract: A method for producing a composite component including a bottom layer, cover layer and honeycomb structure, including applying the honeycomb structure to the bottom layer wherein honeycomb chambers are formed. Honeycomb chambers are filled in a reinforcement region with a granular material and granular material is removed from other honeycomb chambers wherein each honeycomb chamber is filled up to a granular-material filling height and honeycomb chambers outside the reinforcement region are free of granular material. The cover layer is applied to the honeycomb structure wherein the honeycomb chambers are closed. The composite component is heated so the granular material in the honeycomb chambers expands to fill it with granular material and the cover layer, the bottom layer, the honeycomb structure and the expanded granular material harden, the density of the expanded granular material in the honeycomb chambers filled with granular material being dependent on the granular-material filling height.

Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a panel capable of obtaining sufficient strength, weight reduction and sound absorbing performance. A space is formed by an inner thin plate fixed to the inner surface of an outer thin plate, and a foam material is filled in the space. The foam material is preferably a highly foamable rubber sound absorbing material. In the inner thin plate, a perimetrical side part and perimetrical edge part for forming the space, and a concave part for enhancing the strength of the panel are drawn to the side of the outer thin plate. The bottom faces of the perimetrical edge part and concave part of the inner thin plate are bonded to the outer thin plate using a thermosetting adhesive.

Abstract: Vehicle headliners are prepared with a core layer of a fiber-reinforced polyurethane foam. The polyurethane foam is prepared from a polyurethane-forming composition that uses water as a blowing agent and polyol or polyol mixture that has a high functionality and an average hydroxyl equivalent weight of 100-130. The selection of polyols permits cycle times to be reduced by allowing for faster demolding and shortened aging times before post-molding heat lamination steps can be performed.

Abstract: A foam play article comprises: an elastic tube for forming an elastic rubber layer; a foam formed by foaming polyurethane materials (2) in the elastic tube (1); and a coating layer (7) coated on the elastic rubber layer. The article may be manufactured by a method which comprises: providing polyurethane foam materials; attaching a material injector (5) to an elastic tube (1); injecting a predetermined amount of the polyurethane foam materials to the elastic tube (1) through the material injector (5); placing the elastic tube (5) in a mold (6) to provide a foam therein; applying a coating layer onto an outer surface of the foam; and drying the coated foam. The-thus formed play article has superior surface gloss, improved waterproof, soft tactile sensation, and higher stability.
