Abstract: A rigid elongated framework contains a traverse mounting member at one end for attachment to the bell housing of the transmission. A belt is wrapped around the opposite end of the framework and transmission to pull the transmission toward the framework. A central extendible support member is moved into engagement with the center of the transmission body to insure secure engagement between the transmission and the framework. The framework and transmission can be moved to several positions for providing easy access to any part of the transmission. A second embodiment is also provided which includes an upright framework with a pivotable transmission mounting structure.
Abstract: A clamping retention structure for rough stones to enable mechanical operations to be performed which includes spaced support bars on a common threaded shaft and a link chain anchored at each end on one bar and looped around the other bar. Stone engaging teeth in spaced relation on the chain are stabilized by cross slides so that turning the threaded shaft in one direction forces the bars apart and tightens the chain to force the teeth into tight engagement with the stone.
Abstract: A flexible pipe vice having a V-shaped pipe rest attached by side bars to a second bar which can be positioned on a ladder step, a set of chains is also attached to the pipe rest and can be wrapped around a step of a ladder and a piece of pipe positioned in the pipe rest. A first bar attached to a distal end of the chains can be held by a user's foot to secure the pipe in the pipe rest on the step of the ladder.
Abstract: A clamping apparatus for use in assembling a picture frame as described herein comprises an anchoring corner block and a plurality of secondary corner blocks and a flexible cable. The cable has one end secured in the anchoring corner block and extends through the secondary corner blocks so that its other end may be releasably secured to the anchoring corner block. When the corner blocks are located in a position supporting an assembled set of picture frame members arranged in the required configuration a clamping load may be applied thereto by the corner blocks by applying a tensile load to the flexible cable. The various corner blocks are adapted to support the flexible cable in one or other of several predetermined planes selected to provide support for the particular frame moulding configuration which has to be clamped.
Abstract: A press for use in an installation for the manufacture of beams made of glued laminae includes an outer, vertically movable frame having a U-shaped configuration in cross section, an inner stationary frame disposed in the space between the sides of the outer frame, and a fluid operated spacer arranged between the inner and outer frame and expansible to force the bottom of the outer frame against the upper edges of the glued laminae to align the upper edges flush with one another.
Abstract: A portable vise for holding fish hooks for tying on flies comprises a hollow body, capable of being carried in a jacket pocket, having at one end an effective loop that is normally resiliently retracted into the body and which in operation clamps a fish hook against the fixed end of the body.
Abstract: An apparatus for supporting and rotating pipes, incident to joining two pipe sections into a continuous length by welding, includes a pair of support units positioned adjacent the pipe ends, each support unit including an adjustable idler roll assembly, for supporting adjacent pipes on a base at a predetermined elevation, and a clamp assembly. The clamp assembly of each unit includes a chain disposed about the pipe and adjustably connected at its ends to the base so that a pull can be applied to the chain to clamp and, if necessary, slightly deform the upper portion of the pipes into localized alignment to facilitate accurate tack welding prior to circumferential seam welding of the joint.
Abstract: A clamping assembly particularly useful for aligning abutting ends of pipe sections to form a mitered joint. A plurality of individual clamp assemblies are clamped in circumferentially spaced positions upon one pipe section by a circumferentially extending chain, each clamp assembly having an elongate jack arm which can be clamped in selected positions of circumferential and axial adjustment upon the one pipe section so that the jack arms may be projected to different axial distances from the chain into operative engagement with a second pipe section lying in a plane inclined to axis of the one pipe section.
