Rotating Nut Means Patents (Class 269/243)
  • Patent number: 4161311
Abstract: An improved kerf clamp for maintaining two sheet members in pre-disposed relation on either side of a kerf. The clamp is fabricated from sheet metal stock in such a way as to maximize strength and minimize material and production costs. The clamp includes a generally planar sheet metal base which is ribbed for added rigidity and includes an integral kerf blade which extends perpendicularly therefrom and has a stud screw extending axially from the distal end thereof. In use, the base is positioned underneath the sheet material to be clamped with the blade extending upwardly through a kerf cut therein. The clamp also includes a pressure part formed from sheet metal which is bent and shaped into a hollow tubular structure having a narrow upper gripping portion. A pair of sheet metal bulkhead-like inserts are mounted within the pressure part to impart rigidity and strength in compression.

  • Patent number: 4076228
Abstract: A clamp for securing in proper relationship portions of a piece or sheet of material on opposite sides of a kerf or other separation. The clamp has a base block or part and a pressure block or part the two of which engage a sheet or pieces of material from opposite sides of a kerf therein or line of separation therebetween. The base block carries a blade which projects through the kerf or line of separation into a receiving slot or opening in the pressure block. By tightening fastening means such as a nut threaded on a screw projecting from the kerf blade, the base and pressure blocks may be drawn together in clamping relationship on opposite sides of a kerf or line of separation thereby holding in normal or coplanar relationship the juxtaposed sections separated from each other by the presence of a kerf or other form of separation.

  • Patent number: 4075302
Abstract: The invention is directed to an apparatus for gripping and holding a plurality of relatively small flat chips, such as electron microscope grids, by the edges thereof. An elevated support member is provided, the support member having a top surface which defines a table and having an aperture therein. A support flange extends inwardly from the aperture a predetermined distance below the table surface. A gripping assembly is removably mountable in the aperture in the support member. The gripping assembly includes a first gripping member having a periphery corresponding to the contour of the aperture and having a thickness at its periphery which corresponds to the predetermined distance. A second gripping member opposes the first gripping member. At least a portion of the periphery of the second gripping member has a contour that corresponds to the periphery of the first gripping member.

  • Patent number: 4027866
Abstract: A multi-face clamp for wood working which comprises a clamping unit including a plurality of corner pieces. Each of the corner pieces defines at least two pressure faces which are adapted to engage complementary faces of a work piece. Two threaded bolts extend from and are operatively connected with the corner pieces. One of the threaded bolts has threads formed in an opposite direction from those of the other of the threaded bolts. A turn-buckle is disposed between each pair of adjacent corner pieces and receives in its inner threads the respective free end portions of the threaded bolts, so that upon turning of the turn-buckle the pressure faces of the corner piece exert pressure upon the complementary faces of the work piece.

  • Patent number: 3981491
Abstract: On an upright support is an apparatus including a pair of relatively movable jaws between which a tubular frame member of a bicycle is securely clamped. One jaw has a rigid short sleeve terminating in a circular row of teeth adapted to mesh and lock with a similar circular row of teeth on the end of a rigid tube support in dentil fashion. Extending through the tube support is a shaft fixed to the short sleeve, which has a bushing bearing in the tube support. By a manually adjustable nut and screw device, the rows of teeth can be separated to enable the jaws to revolve thereby to position the bicycle in the most convenient work position. A manually adjustable nut and screw device enable the clamping jaws to be tightened or released.
