  • Publication number: 20150135515
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a clamping apparatus that includes a first clamping rail and a second clamping rail. The second clamping rail is curved prior to clamping. The second clamping rail is straightened during clamping such that at least one of a substantially equal and an equal clamping pressure is exerted against at least one object to be clamped across a length of the first and second clamping rails. A method of clamping is further disclosed which includes straightening the second clamping rail and clamping the at least one object between the first clamping rail and the straightened second clamping rail. • Patent number: 8047516
Abstract: A solid surface clamp is provided. The solid surface clamp has a top jaw and a bottom jaw. A connecting rod is attached to one of the jaws, and slideably extends through the other jaw. Alignment surfaces may be incorporated into the jaws to assist in accurately positioning the material to be laminated. A compression device is connected to the portion of the connecting rod that extends through the jaw. A shroud shields the compression device, thereby protecting the compression device from contamination by the laminating adhesive. An elongated stiffening member may be used to apply the clamping force over a longer surface, allowing for greater spacing between clamps and extended regions of even clamping pressure.

  • Publication number: 20110101587
Abstract: The device utilizes a thruster cylinder driven by a enlarged knob and terminating in a thruster plate to clamp to a support. Provision is made to attach a device to the clamp through a rotating index wheel which can lock the device by receiving a tang from a trigger lever at a selected increment of rotation. A second embodiment has two index wheels so that the attached device can be displaced in one of four directions to avoid conflict with other devices on the same support. The second axis is normally used to return a displaced device to an upright orientation.

  • Patent number: 5346337
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting threads in holes of fabricated parts including a vertical support shaft supporting at least one arm extended out over the part with a tap coupled to a motor on the end of each of the at least one arm. The arm is supported on the vertical shaft by a joint support which can be rotated around the vertical shaft and slide vertically on the shaft. A spring on the shaft is biased to return the joint support to a rest position. The vertical shaft can also be positioned vertically by virtue of a manually operated friction drive located in the base. These several degrees of freedom enable a user to position a tap in any one of a multiplicity of holes located over a large area of the part. A means and method for securing the tap in the tap chuck is provided.

  • Patent number: 5186228
Abstract: A workbench including a work top which is supported by a base. The base includes a plurality of attachment points of which various implements such as clamps, brackets and other accesories are removably mountable such that they are secured to the workbench without requiring attachment to the work top, thereby enabling the work top to remain unmarred, imperforate and in good working condition. The plurality of attachment points allow the implements to be mounted to the base in various positions as desired.

  • Patent number: 4642438
Abstract: A high precision, high throughput submicrometer workpiece positioning system, particularly useful as a workpiece positioning means in electron beam lithography tools. The positioning system increases mechanical stability by essentially eliminating mechanical hysteresis, which allows state of the art electron beam lithography systems to provide the repeatable, accurate and dense circuit patterns that modern semiconductor trends demand. The positioning system in preferred form comprises a movable positioning table, a workpiece supporting superstructure which is elastically joined to the movable positioning table by three geometrically distinct kinematic support means and a two-stage coupling means which mounts a workpiece (i.e., semiconductor mask or wafer) to the workpiece supporting superstructure. A laser interferometer locating-positioning system is utilized to position the workpiece. The interferometer mirrors are integral with the workpiece supporting superstructure.

  • Patent number: 4221369
Abstract: A machine vise grasps a given work blank by causing a movable jaw to be moved toward a stationary jaw fixed in position on one end of the vise bed. When the work blank is grasped between the stationary jaw and the movable jaw and the clamping force of the movable jaw is increased, no bending stress is exerted upon the vise bed and a force causing the movable jaw to be directed to the surface of the slide for the movable jaw is applied thereto to thereby increase the force of adhesion of the movabe jaw to the vise bed, with the result that the work blank is prevented from rising off the vise bed, that the rigidity and structural strength of the vise as a whole are increased and that the jaws grasp the work blank therebetween in a state wherein the jaw plates of the jaws keep their postural angle relative to the surface of the slide for the movable jaw at a precise right angle at all times.

  • Patent number: 4179775
Abstract: An adjustable clamping device for clamping a pipe or the like of round peripheral shape through peripheral clamping engagement, comprising a driving unit, and only two pairs of members including a movable clamping member to be driven by the driving unit, and yet being provided with the internal self-oscillating arrangement to cause the members to be smoothly interslid and interleaved with each other when the forcibly effecting relative movement of the movable clamping member is effected along a preselected longitudinal line of movement, which can define a clamping array with the adjustment of the clamping members in spaced relationship to the center axis of an object to be clamped, being effected automatically by the adjustment of the movable clamping member with the other clamping members being automatically, relatively guided by the movable clamping member mentioned above into variably spaced relationship to the axis of the object to be clamped.

  • Patent number: 4058302
Abstract: A bench holder for a clock mechanism under repair. The holder comprises a pair of parallel-disposed, clock-mechanism, platelike holding jaws. A jaw support rod is rigidly fixed to one jaw and projects therefrom. A pair of manual adjusting screws adjustably supports the second jaw on the first jaw for a parallel opening and closing movement of the jaws. A first bench top support stand has an elongated shaft formed at one end with a first socket receiving hole. A clamping collar is adjustably fixed to the end of the shaft having the first socket hole. The collar and the shaft are each formed with aligned holes on an axis normal to the longitudinal axis of the first socket hole. The jaws may be optionally inserted into either the first socket hole in the shaft or in the aligned socket holes and rotated within each of the socket holes to effect a desired attitude of the clock mechanism. In the first bench top support stand, the shaft is telescopically received by a tube supported on a base.

  • Patent number: 3968885
Abstract: A semiconductor wafer, which has chips formed thereon, is moved from a class 100 environment into a vacuum chamber in which pattern writing is performed on the chips by an electron beam without significantly affecting the vacuum level in the vacuum chamber. The wafer is initially disposed on an elevator, which is within the vacuum chamber, through an opening, which is vacuum sealed by the elevator at this time, in the top wall of the vacuum chamber. A lid is then placed over the opening from the exterior to cooperate with the elevator to form an ante chamber which the wafer disposed therein. The ante chamber, which is purged prior to the lid being placed over the opening, is then reduced to a vacuum of 5 .times. 10.sup..sup.-2 torr. The elevator then lowers the wafer into a horizonal plane in which a transfer mechanism is located to transfer the wafer from the elevator to an X-Y table on which the wafer is mounted for pattern writing of the chips. The transfer mechanism includes an arm, which is indexed 180.
