  • Patent number: 11927026
Abstract: A post stabilization system which uses components which allow for both pushing and pulling forces to be applied to a workpiece in situ. The system uses the ground as an anchor point to stabilize a workpiece being installed. A force application member is connected to an anchoring device at one end. The opposing end of the force application member is an abutment member for applying a stabilizing force to a pole or other vertically oriented workpiece. An adjustment/tensioning member is applied between the anchoring device and the abutment member to allow for adjusting the angle of the workpiece by applying either pushing or pulling forces to the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 5727777
Abstract: In a method of hanging a cable by using spiral hangers on a messenger wire installed between a pair of electric utility poles, one end of a spiral hanger and a leading end of a pull rope are connected to a leading pulley in the vicinity of one of the electric utility poles. A spiral hanger having an inner diameter greater than the sum of the outer diameter of the messenger wire and the outer diameter of the cable is transported toward the other of the electric utility poles while surrounding the messenger wire and the pull rope. The other end of the spiral hanger is connected to one end of a succeeding spiral hanger by using a joint sleeve, and this operation is repeated. When the leading pulley arrives at the other of the electric utility poles, the spiral hangers are fixed to the messenger wire using fixing devices. After that, the pull rope is pulled so as to pull the cable connected to the tail end of the pull rope through the spiral hangers.

  • Patent number: 5379519
Abstract: A method for attachment to an overhead crane for removing the bearing assembly from a vertical centrifugal pump system without removing the motor. The apparatus includes a rigid C-shaped frame which is attached by a pulley to an overhead crane and also includes a pivotal attachment on the opposite end of the frame which is removably connected to the bearing assembly. Intermediate and vertically aligned with the ends of the frame is a horizontal displacement control member which is removably connected to the bearing assembly at a point vertically above the pivotal attachment. Horizontal displacement of the horizontal displacement control member will cause a rotating of the bearing assembly about the pivotal attachment allowing clearance and lateral removal of the bearing assembly from the vertical pump system.

  • Patent number: 5312095
Abstract: A tool for the carpenter or welder in the building industry. The tool quickly and accurately places joist hangars, which are used to fasten and support joists. The tool frees the users hands while holding the hangar in its proper position. Gravity holds the tool and joist hangar combination plumb. The flanges (4) on the tool body (1) engage the flanges on the hangar in proper configuration. The tool has a centered, adjustable sliding support hook which is bent to hook over the top of the beam and slide vertically through the body. The adjustable sliding support hook(2) is secured by a hand operated set screw(3), which is threaded into the body(1). The joist hangar slides into the tool easily. When the joist hangar is nailed or welded, the tool slides off of the installed joist hangar just as easily. The tool can be made in appropriate sizes for different joist hangars. This tool can be fabricated, cast, or injection molded from either metal or plastic.

  • Patent number: 5290019
Abstract: A siding installation hanger has a elastic cord storing mid-section from which opposite extending legs having backturned end portions extend. The backturned end portions have gripping edges which in response to tension in the elastic cord, easily and removably grip the protruding longitudinal lip on siding strips which interlock. The upper end section of the hanger strap releasably retains the rope and may include hook-like slotted portions for that purpose. The hanger strap is retained in a upright vertical position in support of horizontal siding strips. Loose wraps are wound around the elastic cord storage section of the hanger member to ensure that the elastic cord is always the proper length to tensively hold successive siding strips at any vertical location along the wall surface to be sided. The device is quickly and easily adjusted and quickly and easily removed. A method employing the device for installing siding is included.

  • Patent number: 5156381
Abstract: A reference plane moving device comprises an attachment section which is movable along a given reference plane, and a balancer which can operate in correspondence with this attachment section, the attachment section including an air intake hole section capable of creating a vacuum condition between the attachment section and the reference plane by sucking air, and compressed air ejecting hole sections capable of creating a high pressure condition between the attachment section and the reference plane by blowing compressed air against the reference plane. By virtue of a combined action of the vacuum and the high pressure conditions thus created, the attachment section can be kept away from the reference plane by a fixed distance while being attracted thereto. The attachment section with an appropriate attachment can be readily moved on the reference plane.

  • Patent number: 5020714
Abstract: A method and apparatus for applying variable pressure to selected areas of a bonding assembly jig to shape a face plate to conform to the contours of contoured heads and hold the face plate in place for welding comprises two inverted U-shaped support frames including two spaced apart elongated vertical support members each having a bottom end and a top end, an elongated horizontal top beam extending between and connecting the top ends of the vertical support members, a track extending between and adjustably fastened to the horizontal top beam, and at least one hydraulic press slidably suspended from the track and adapted to apply pressure to a bonding assembly jig. The support frames are provided with wheels and one of the support frames has vertical support members spaced at a distance less that of the other support frame. This arrangement allows the tracks of each frame to be positioned proximate to each other above a bonding assembly jig.
