  • Patent number: 5933941
Abstract: The present invention provides a new and improved system for holding a metallic on non-metallic sheet work piece in place on the X- and Y- axes for use in connection with a semi-automatic fastener insertion machine. The system utilizes cantilevered support arms to hold the work piece in place between the upper and lower tooling of the insertion press allowing easy removal and repositioning of the work piece. The arms of the system may be retracted away from the tooling of the press making the tooling open and available for other uses. This flexibility allows the present system to be used to insert fasteners into one surface of an multi-surface sheet which may then be easily removed and repositioned to allow insertions into the remaining surface(s). In addition, instead of rigid clamps, the positioning system also uses a set of adjustable alignment pins (or an adjustable tray) which provide a variable amount of "float" in the location of the work piece relative to the tooling.

Abstract: An apparatus for adjustably supporting a vehicle door at a convenient height whereby the door can be rotated through a generally horizontal axis passing through the door to a desired work position. The support apparatus comprises a pair of spaced-apart stands, one stand having mounting means in the form of an elongated connector pivotally secured thereto on a rotatable axle and adapted to be secured to one edge of the door by means of bolts threaded into bolt holes normally used for securement of the door hinges, and the other stand having a horizontal spindle secured thereto adapted to be received in the closable recess of the door locking mechanism on the opposite edge of the door for rotation of the door about the spindle. Each of the stands is adjustable as to height whereby the axis of the spindle and the axis of rotation of the axle secured to the elongated connector can be normally horizontally aligned.

  • Patent number: 4516318
Abstract: A pair of spaced holes (32 and 34) are drilled in a substrate blank (10) diametrically along a line (14) defining a future locating edge (22) of a printed circuit board (12). When the substrate blank (10) is then sheared to form the printed circuit board (12), semi-circular recesses (38 and 40) are formed from the spaced holes (32 and 34) in the resultant board locating edge (22). The printed circuit board (12) then is accurately aligned in a processing station in X- and Y-directions by seating board-locating pins (50 and 52) of special configurations in respective ones of the semi-circular recesses (38 and 40).

  • Patent number: 4103882
Abstract: An apparatus for use in forming a finish on a jewelry band has a base, a chassis rotatably mounted to the base and a mandrel rotatably mounted to the chassis. The mandrel is operable to engage the blank jewelry band on which the finish is to be formed. The apparatus further includes means allowing the chassis to be secured in position relative to the base and means allowing the mandrel to be secured relative to the chassis. The finish is produced by positioning a forming tool having a predetermined front cross section against the blank jewelry band and striking the forming tool, forming an indent in the band corresponding to the shape of the forming tool. The relative independence of the mandrel, chassis and base allows the band to be positioned at an ideal angle for striking.

  • Patent number: 3962970
Abstract: A method and device for printing upon a container wall, wherein during printing the container inner wall is moved around a circular rotatable support which keeps the container wall pressed directly against a rotating printing surface at the stop on which it is being printed. The cross sectional area of said support is a certain fraction of the cross sectional area of the container and the longitudinal position of the container wall is registered for the printing with the aid of a second spaced circular and withdrawable inner positioning support.

  • Patent number: 3955495
Abstract: A printing machine for applying printed matter to the outside of dished articles, particularly plastics containers for packaging food stuffs, of non-circular cross-section has a rotary printing drum associated with a revolving head, with supports for the articles, arranged to be indexed past the printing drum and is characterised by each support having an arbor which is operative to support an article throughout the printing operation and at least one additional arbor spaced therefrom and displaceable between an operative position in which it also supports the article and an inoperative position in which it does not support the article. A vacuum, applied through a frontal aperture in the first-mentioned arbor may be provided to assist in retaining the articles on their supports. Alternatively or additionally the articles may be held on to their supports by means of rollers acting on the outside of the articles.
